FA Cup Final build up

Postby nottsblue » Thu May 14, 2026 3:10 pm

Genuinely didn’t remember this was on Saturday when I put up the Palace match thread yesterday

Feel a bit embarrassed and ashamed to be honest

It wasn’t that long ago we’d dream and give limbs to be in a Wembley Final. And just because we are making it a habit of it doesn’t mean it should be taken for granted. But the FA need fucking shooting for having what should be the showcase game on the same weekend as a full set of PL fixtures. Pundits and the media are very quick to criticise teams for putting weakened sides out saying it devalues the competition, but when the fucking organisation that runs it doesn’t have the final after the league season has finished, then they are devaluing it far more

Anyway, who is going?

Who is going to play?

Feel free to put all things cup related on here

I'm going, Block 551- Can't wait.
He'll play Trafford plus the strongest outfield team available as per all the rested players yesterday.

I've got a sneaky feeling he gets sentimental and goes with Stones and Dias/Ake. I hope not

I’ll be there. Buzzing.

Back 4 is my biggest worry, with him resting Cherki, Haaland and Doku other night plus no Rodri or O’Reilly I feel he’s planning strong team for Wembley as he should. Guehi and Khus starting makes me wonder what he’ll do at the back though.
Tracking back is overrated.

Guehi and Khus didn’t really have a lot to do though to be fair. They will be as fresh as a daisy

We are red hot favourites to win
Chelsea are 9/4 to lift the trophy and we are 1/3 with Betfair

Be worth a few quid on the chavs. If we win, losing a few quid is an irrelevance and if we lose you’ve a few quid to soften the blow!!

I see Sutton on the BBC score predictions has gone 5-0 to us

If we don't win, Pep will become the first manager to lose three in a row

I could be wrong but last year v Palace I noted a lack of desire & passion. Excuses made about Henderson not seeing red, but really we should be at least scoring against teams like Palace. Anyway last two finals we lost we were staying at son in laws place, this year we are at our home so might have a bit of luck.

Decided not to go in the end, by time I qualified they only had £255 tickers left and since going to the semi, my car cost £700 to get through the MOT! And we've got 2 holidays coming, so watching this one down the pub.

Same for me,but the flights back on sunday were well over 500 quid and i need to be back Sunday evening. Pub for me as well instead of at home ,for a bit of atmosphere.
