Manchester City are lining up Nottingham Forest and England midfielder Elliot Anderson

Still the only realistic replacement.

I like this kid from the very small amount of times I've seen him play including a couple of games for England. Not sure there are not better options elsewhere. To your point on realistic, we are still a pull, whether we could get PSG to part with Vitinho who is the ideal replacement or Bruno from the toon would be interesting particularly if we tapped Enrique up?

I see two fullbacks mentioned in the same bbc article with Anderson hopefully some truth behind it.

Bernie was absolutely beaming after the game today and rightly so. It'll take a special player to replace him. One of only a handful who still have their feet on the ground and a real connection with the fans. Passionate and a great character, old school if you like.

The way he is reacting to our social media posts, he surely is a done deal for the summer.

Possibly controversial but how about a cheeky bid for dominik szoboszlai (sp?) from the murderers? A great engine, covers numerous positions, and covers the pitch very well. A modern Colin Bell?

Not controversial at all, I'll have him in a heartbeat. Firstly, they wont even entertain 100m plus for him, secondly no way they sell to us unless he wants out and they have no other options. Never say never but this one is a no goer.

Quality player would be a coup if we were able to prise him away. Just as unlikely as Vitinho though I feel. MGW name still doing the rounds unless we're playing the old switcharoo and it's only Anderson we are after but dont see Forest selling both

Vitinho is a possible as his contract is winding down. Szoboszlai is quality and Liverpools best player by a mile, they would refuse to sell him to us, however his Dad is all over the media touting to Madrid saying he has always dreamt of playing for them.

MGW is a BTEC replacement, no thanks. Anderson I am not sold on, good in a shit side, but not a top level UCL player, which is where we should be shopping.

Nico O is looking better all the time, I think the kid has what it takes at this level.

A big no to either of the Forest players for me
Szobolszlai would be perfect. But entirely unobtainable
As is any guy from PSG who is under contract

The only player at PSG that is like Bern is João Neves. We should have been in for him when he was at Benfica.

Neves is an great shout, he has amazing control and seemingly impossible to get the ball off. And I think he's 20, would be a long term replacement for Bernie.

He cost PSG £50m (plus £5m in add-ons). I like Nunes now, but we paid similar for him to do a job in midfield. Why we didn't go for this lad is bonkers

Worth bumping this in light of his performance yesterday - in the first half it looked like he was struggling by his standards, Arsenal did a great job of closing him down, but in the 2nd half he was fucking majestic.

What an absolute rolls royce of a player, and a grade A shithouse to boot :D :D

Absolutely brilliant, always gives his all. Amazing player, so glad he has been a blue for the last decade. Will go down in history as one of our greatest players and definitely the greatest WUM we have ever had.

His shitheelery knows no bounds.

And as the title of the thread is about his replacement, like his namesake, Aguero, KDB and Yaya there is no replacement. We will just try to make it up in the aggregate.
