Played with 10 players, luckily all the other 10 played well. He moaned non stop at every other player. Im actually glad cherki was selfish.

Whether injured or not, he hardly had a touch in the first half but in the second when it opened up, he looked to be trying to chase and makes runs but looked dead on his feet. Plenty of gestures that he wasnt getting a pass etc. 1 goal in the lsst 6? Last goal from open play was Dec 20th. A barren spell for him

He'll score Saturday, he's got a great record against the rags.

Foden has a great record against the rags as well but he , just like Haaland, are currently stinking the place out.

No idea what team pep will put out this time around - can never second guess his line ups.

I'll second guess Haaland will play.

So nothing wrong with the rugby tackle on Semenyo, the foul in this image is by Erling.

It's pathetic, it really is. How hard can it be?
If theres nothing apparent to disallow it, it stands. You don't carry on for nearly 6 minutes then put the onus back on the march referee!!

That Foden 'penalty' in the league match was beyond all reason, Pep was right to call it out.

I won't play the victim card, because daft things happen to other clubs, we've had it in our games when the oppo gets stitched

Clearly offside so disallowed correctly, and I haven't seen the moving version of that apparent foul on Semenyo but it does look a bit like a foul in the photo.

Just watched highlights, if it was clearly offside why the fuck did it take six fucking minutes to determine that clarity. The second goal was pure magic from Cherki, the back flick to the winger & movement to the area was just class & at pace too, fantastic football.

Just about to post similar. Nothing clear about it, not 1 Newcastle player appealed. As they said on TS this morning they were all subjective decisions hence even after the 6 minutes the ref was sent to the screen to decide. If it's not clear and obvious don't get involved. Loved Pep's interview though. Brilliant.
Cherki was brilliant as you say for the goal but how good was Ait Nouri as well.

Forgot to mention Ait Nouri amazing reading of the situation Cherki set up, looks to me like we have the foundations of something special developing at the moment

Cant be arsed with " we get some too" which rags say and even dafter when some blues above say it. Weve had the rodri handball in like ten years? Maybe you will find two more. Weve just seen 3 clear in our last 2 gamea at st james

You're right with the naked eye of course it wasn't clearly offside and I can't even remember if VAR are allowed to get involved if it isn't clear and obvious for offside decisions. The fact they take six minutes indicates they are. I meant it is clearly offside from the photographic evidence, which it is.

Didn't Haaland stop the defender from reaching the ball?

The defender stopped himself from even attempting to get to the ball as he was too busy wrestling with Haaland, which went on all night and was even obvious from the heights of St James's Park where we Blues were. Neither the keeper or defender appealed - tells you everything!

That was NEVER offside.

Haaland couldn’t have interfered with the goalkeeper as there was a defender between them

The said defender was tussling with Haaland and was a 50/50 challenge between them. Something seen between 5/6 opponents every single corner and free kick of EVERY single game.

To suggest that anything other than a perfectly good legal goal was scored by Semenyo is wrong. The fact it took well over 5 minutes to come to the conclusion they did spoke volumes about the integrity of the match officials, the broadcaster and the wider game in general.

VAR will destroy the game in time. And it won’t be long

On the picture above you see the back of the newcastles
Defender on the same line as haarlands heel. Nevermind comparing boot positions. The entire body ( except hands / arms) must be considered.

Further , the goalie was moving in the opposite direction to where Haarland was. As has been said Haarland was being manhandled and the other defender was jumping into Semenyo.
Very dubious decision made there.

The Rodri handball incident is perpetuated by EFC and rival fans. Whether it touched his hand or not is immaterial, the ref blew offside if i remember the incident correctly .

In terms of the ref last night i agreed with all of Newcastles bookings but i would thought Joelinton and Guimares got off lightly they were at it all game
Tonali should have been given a red for his tackle on Silva as he followed up his foul by a short arm to his head, naughty. He was obviously being targeted by Joelinton and Guimares as was Foden and OReilly

No problem with any of our yellows.

Thought Reilly and Silva had a battle last night and needed others to step up

Khus and Max in CB rolls did well.
