I see Madrid are about to get Mastantuono, he was the next in line after Echeverri. No reports of him being loaned out by Alonso. He is going there to stay and fight. So why wouldn’t Echeverri do the same?
For me it smells of favoritism, and giving game time to the same faces.

I understand why he wants to go to Roma rather than Girona.

I dug into it, and it’s mainly a work-permit, points-based issue —he’s borderline right now, so the club are loaning him out to boost his score. That is probably one of the reasons hes been loaned out.

If that is the case, then do it smartly, but I think we could have gotten a work permit for him.
What scares me is the loan-to-buy offer from Roma, which includes a buy-back clause. If we accept that, we are the idiots of the world.

Agreed Pete.
This lad is good enough to play for us now. He doesnt need a fucking loan period. Once we loan these kids out they either want to stay if they are a success at the loan club or they die away. Cant think of one decent loan kid thats worked out for us.

Bizarre country. Someone cant live here earning probably £30k a week but people can come in on a boat all expenses paid. Shit hole of a country we're in

Pretty sure we've had this problem before with young players coming directly to us from south america. I think except Brazilians that get a back door courtesy of Protugal?

Yet if they go to Europe on loan to Europe (who ironically have made it harder for us Brits to get in), they get points towards their UK visa/work permit...

I almost wrote a whole paragraph about brexit, but remembered to respect the site rules on no politics.

We couldn't get a work permit for Douglas Luiz so sold him to Villa who could get one straight away. It's all ridiculous

After a 2 year visa point building loan at our sister club Girona, I can only guess that he was monitored closely and considered not good enough for our first team.

We bought for €12m and sold for €16.8m, then got a further €9.7m from a sell on clause.

If you Google him he does not appear in the top 20 of eurropes top midfielders or attacking midfielders.

Pep thought he was good enough. Problem was he had a work permit rejected -

Went to Villa 12 months later and got one straight away

He will never play for us again. Complete waste of time. I do not know why i bother getting interested.
This lad is better than Savinho, Doku, Marmoush, now. He could be an absolute magician, an Argentininian David Silva. Its a fucking joke

That's ok CFtG, Indianblue burst a blood vesel on your behalf... I am confident your intel is correct that it is down work permits rather than the club merely turning a coin/flipping a profit on an investment.

Personally, I would love to see him stay at City and flourish for years to come.

I do need to watch my blood pressure!! Not doing my golf game any good. Would love to see him back but i was chomping at the bit ever since we signed him. Already let him stay in SA after being bought, never played after he arrives until the end of Cup Final. Taken to US looks good but gets a knock then he's pushed away on loan? AT the same time, a younger kid we bought for £12.5m , Nypan, gets his chance? Apparrently the 18yr old Norwegian is better than Echeverri? Go figure that one because i can't. I'm just being tortured!!!!

If he (Pep) doesn't play him, I would rather see him loaned out.

I am ok with Ten Bob, he is a manager that plays a lot of youngesters, and maybe at Leverkusen he will do a decent job in a team that will surely be in transition.
Let's see where we stand next year by this time with him.

Probably would have liked to see him around the squad, but he wouldn't have got a lot of playing time. So the loan with no buy option is the best option for him. He is one I do think will be back.
