Called it early in the thread, he seems the type to tell them to fuck off and down tools -

Can’t blame him when they accepted a poxy bid from Saudi for their best player but won’t sell Nunes

I certainly wouldn’t do Wolves any favours over City players if they jerk us around.

Didn't realise he was a target for the murderers, worth signing him just for that.

If Pep made those comments about him last year and he was on our radar then, then why didn’t we go for him last summer before he went to Wolves instead of Phillips. Wolves paid the same price.

Partly because Phillips was English and they were looking at home grown issues. He’s an England international. We all know he’s disappointed expectations. It happens. It’s a huge jump up to make it in the City first team. Maybe a loan to a PL team will be the making of him.

Home grown can’t have been an issue? We bought Phillips and sold Lavia, who was home grown wasn’t he?

Phillips vs Nunes which was the comparison you yourself made. I see Iheanacho being considered by Wolves supposedly. If true has to be positive for a Nunes transfer.

We have no home grown issues. In fact our squad is so small we barely need any. Its not a problem for us.

Correct, UEFA's Association/Club trained allotment of 4+4 can be topped up from the 17 place free list which includes foreign trained players. We currently have room for 2 club trained (Over 21 -A list) plus 2 on the Free list

Whatever the case the Club do like buying some English players as part of their plans. I’ve no doubt that was part of the attraction of buying Phillips. Obviously Txiki and Pep thought he’d do better than he has done.

Alan Nixon suggesting City have ‘offered’ McAtee to Wolves, presumably on loan. I still think one way or another this deal gets done,

Promises made to McAtee and his family to get him to sign a new deal last year, only for him to potentially be shipped off if true.

Shows that if a player that has a successful loan period it counts for nothing.

A Premiership loan for a year isn’t the worst thing that could happen to him. Who knows what shape Kevin will be in this season. Maybe Bernardo’s famous reserve clause will be triggered next Summer. Worst case for him he does really well and gets sold to a better club assuming Wolves get relegated.

I'd prefer us to offer Doyle if they are looking for a player in return. McAtee needs game time with us to see if he can hold a place down. Problem he has is that he won't start many games if any at all and he may not be happy with that. Big season for him if he chooses to stay - I hope he does

He needs the same opportunities Palmer is getting. Seems to be getting nothing but Palmer has started matches recently.

Needs to be handled the same way as Foden.

Like B2W says, a Prem loan wouldn’t be bad for McAtee, but I’d prefer he learnt from the likes of Foden, Bernardo, Kev etc than Wolves players.

I think we need the Nunes deal. We didn’t plan for Kevin’s injury. He might come back fit and firing or he might struggle. The truth is we’re short. Quite unfair to expect McAtee or any young player to step up so massively. Can we realistically move on to another target now? Seems unlikely.

Agree wirh you and Mase's point above, id like McAtee to get starts but in his natural position. Palmer was / is lucky in that there was a need to play him out wide which suited us and him. We need experienced cover for Kev it's unfortunate timing for McAtee but i think him and his family see the bigger picture. I know his old man told him he was nor going to Milan when they wanted to take him on loan over the summer. Be an interesting couple of days

If he is not training he wont play. Not sure about this going on strike stuff. Wolves could dig their heels in and say fuck you.

I don’t like it one bit. Says a lot about his character

I’d walk away from the deal. It isn’t as if he’s a world class player either.
