A Manchester City fan has reached out to a Hillsborough support group, following reports of ‘vile’ chants during the 1-0 loss to Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday.

City fans reportedly chanted ‘murderers,’ in relation to the 39 people who died at Heysel in 1985 and the 97 who died as a result of the chaos at the FA Cup semi-final in Sheffield in 1989.

Merseyside Police have confirmed they are investigating a series of incidents surrounding the match.

Although Manchester City are yet to release an official statement, a fan of the club reached out to Hillsborough Survivors Support Alliance to express apologies.

In an email, the fan said other City supporters agreed with his sentiments and that Hillsborough ‘sits heavily in his heart’.

The full email reads:

“As a life-long Manchester City supporter, please can I take this moment to express my sincere apologies for the disgusting, vile behaviour of some of our fans on Sunday.

“My friends and colleagues who are also City supporters agree 100% with my sentiments - there should never ever be room for such moronic, cowardly and poisonous conduct and I, for one, would be first to endorse a life-long ban on the perpetrators."

This chap reminds me of one of those guys who jumped online in support of the metoo movement and gender inequality

Where's that quoted from? The Liverpool Echo? And as for the "lifelong fan", bet his address is in Toxteth!

Wtf, this is getting out of control. Glad I didn't have the subscription to read beyond the start of it.

JC have you still got the sub? If so, is there official confirmation from the club that our fans are going to be spoken to about Hillsborough??

All these people that heard these hillsborough chants and not one documented video of evidence. Almost as if it didn’t happen.

After seven days in which jordan henderson has racially abused an arsenal player, their hitlerjugend manager was shown a straight red for abusing an official, coins were thrown at our manager and City's bus was damaged by liverpool fans for the third time, it is all deflection. Nothing else. There were no "hillsborough chants" (note that it has now become plural despite as you say NO EVIDENCE WHATSOEVER). It is classic deflection tactics and comes right from the top of that odious club.

The spitter taking high morale ground, please stop, this is getting funny now. Playing the victim card for not getting an interview with our club legend.

I'm glad they denied him the interview the horrible rat.

The club should deny him all access. In fact any rat with association with those murderers should be denied access.

P.s carra, you don't have the right to lecture us on borderlines, you spat at a girl, a child. Now crawl back under your rock sciv

Well said.

This scumbag is really showing his true colours and should be banned from the club with immediate effect. Because someone at the club pointed out his clear bias, he goes and airs it in public?

And on top of this, the thick gobber has clearly not listened to the most rationally minded people who are calling for calm on all sides. He's used his platform in the papers to fan the flames.

What a thick fuck. You reap what you sow, scumbag

In the long run, I think City will benefit from the general behaviour of Liverpool and it's cheer leaders.

The evidence of the appalling behaviour continues to grow, as Tokyo Blue pointed out, in the past week we have: Henderson Vs. Arsenal, Klopp pre match and post match, coin throwing and attack on City coach, Now Carragher ups the ante.

They have created a vile atmosphere between the clubs, something City and Pep tried to avoid this by always blowing smoke up Liverpool's arse.
Their reward, Klopp's rant before the game, Liverpool never accepting responsibility for their actions, deflection, media manipulation, serially corrupt decisions on the pitch and hacking City's scouting system.

The atmosphere now is totally toxic between both clubs and will only fester and get worse.
With that comes greater scrutiny, that will benefit us in future matches against Liverpool.
For ex, it will not be as easy to cheat, for ex, Milner's non-red card, etc...
But the biggest win will be the motivation to keep beating these cnuts to the trophies, it will really focus us imo.

Aso, the general public are not totally stupid.
Carragher taking the high moral ground, nobody is going to take that seriously with his track record.
It will probably work against Liverpool, because when people see a child spitters close ties to LFC they will be disgusted with the club.

Pep in his presser said he didn't hear the chants mentioned and that "IF it's true, then we are sorry".

Surely at this stage and with everyone from the Athletic, all the rag outlets, an MP, a Sky pundit - all saying there were chants about Hillsborough, there would be evidence?

Found guilty after trial by media with no evidence and not once was the word "alleged" mentioned in any of the comments. I really hope the club are seeking legal advice on this.

Some more sorry journalism and details of what the graffiti actually was:
https://www.independent.ie/sport/soccer ... 85420.html

So under a picture of the graffiti, which clearly says JFT39 (written about 3 inches high), there's a caption saying "Graffiti pictured in the concourse of the away end at Anfield, following the Premier League match between Liverpool and Manchester City, which references the Hillsborough and Heysel disasters. Liverpool have issued a statement in which they said: " We are deeply disappointed to hear vile chants relating to football stadium tragedies from the away section. We know the impact such behaviour has on the families, survivors and all those associated with such disasters". Picture date: Sunday October 16, 2022."

If the moron author bothered to do a quick Google search, he'd find out that JFT39 is only about Justice For the 39 that died in Heysel, and has nothing to do with Hillsborough.

So, there's nothing at all in this related to Hillsborough. It seems this is the Bin Dippers way of deflecting attention and blame from what people really were talking about. Shame on them and someone in the press needs to be brave enough to highlight this.

BBC running with the headline - “ Pep Guardiola apologises for Manchester City fans' chants at Anfield”

That’s not at all what he said or did. I’m fuckin raging here. I was ready to rip Pep apart but reading the actual quote they’ve made it out he’s apologising for Hillsborough chants - he’s said he didn’t hear anything!

We need to take these people to the cleaners now, it’s gone on for too long and if my club carry on letting people walk all over us in this way they won’t be my club for much longer.
