Unlike many, I've always been a staunch defender of the BBC because of the quality of their programming, lack of advertising and their political impartiality. Lots may say they aren't impartial, but to me the fact that both the left and right are constantly accusing them of bias proves the point.
And OK, they traditionally fawn over rags and red scouse, but that's just in line with the rest of the media, so no big deal.

The point is not that they are women, the point is the criteria has always been - we were told - that to be a pundit you have to have played in the Premier League. These women have not played in the Premier League. If they were going to use pundits who haven't played there, then anyone who played football could have got a gig - maybe me? How about Carl?
