he absolutely brought nothing to our game tonight

Very true, but I don’t base my opinion on half a season.

What about 2 years?
Or 6 years without a goal vs the rags?

If you want to get in a discussion about what he’s achieved over the last 2 or 6 years, I’m happy to do so.

Just like if you want to do the same with regard to the ‘Fraud’, I’m more than happy to discuss away from the match thread.

No one cares about a few years ago , it’s the here and now that’s important , football moves on and Sterling is shit , just like he was last year (which is why he was benched for half the season by Pep , because he was shit) - so based on those 2 facts , it doesn’t bode well for this season does it .
Should never ever start another CL or high profile Prem game again until he miraculously shows us what he did a few years ago )

How anyone can defend him beggars belief. Yes he was good two years ago and we all congratulated him. Now is now and I cannot remember a positive contribution he has made to one of our games in several months. I expect players to ease in and out of form but by Christ this man cannot even see a football, he has and has always had an apalling first touch, but now his second and third touches have gone. Cup player fir the rest of the season for me, we have much better options.

More worrying is that he’s decent for England but not us anymore. What’s happened? What’s going on in his head when he plays for City? Does he want to be here or would a fresh start benefit him?

All questions the club and Raz need to answer.

Needs a new challenge IMO and we should cash in , loan in January with a buy clause in the summer .

This.
Useless for us last season, so bad he was no longer a first choice, then is England's best player at the Euros, returns to us after Euros and is useless again.

Just wtf is going on?

Well, he made quite a few tonight - remember Bernie's miss when his header hit the bar - selective memory loss syndrome I'm afraid.

I think it’s probably best for everyone involved. Loved Raz and defended him a lot over the years - but it’s got to the point I don’t even want to watch City if I know he’s starting. It should never be like that.

Pep needs to shoulder part of the blame as well. Sterling is constantly played out of position on the left or in the middle. He’s a right-winger. Buying Mahrez when we didn’t need to after Sterling had a class season may have dented Sterling’s confidence.

But, is that within our remit or is it down to these young players? We’re no longer in a position to give these players the chance in big games like we once was.

From where we’ve been to where we are, or just where we are now and forgetting all those years, surely you must admire what we’ve achieved?

Seemingly Sterling wants to be paid top dollar with his next contract.

Fair enough. To justify the salary expected let's go through a checklist:

He plays world class football consistently
He is a game changer
He is inspirational
He does things nobody else can do
He is a leader
He strikes fear into opponents
He is a clinical finisher

You get the idea. Sterling fails all the key criteria. For City he is a good squad player. No more than that.

Thought he played reasonably well last night, but he's levels away from being a striker, which it appears we're trying to convert him to.
I'd have give him 20 minutes on the right, at that left back cos he was bang average.

This is the problem right here, imho. This was from the match thread.
Same feeling was before the final. And that is a huge problem because we had our share of shit players, but can't remember an out of form player that does that much harm to our system than any other opponent.

Just curious why no one from the staff is looking into this. He is clearly out of form, he is clearly unhappy, his presence cost us an European final, so what are we doing. If the rumors with Barcelona are true, then what is the amount of cash we want for him?
Realistically, because no one will pay us top dollar.

Many of them see what we see and know he is in a bad situation.
How long until his contract expires?

He shouldn't have started last night. Surely jesus or torres are better options at the moment.
Pep seems to be trying to play him back into form, he did similar with Mahrez last season.
Will it work, who knows, but if he is going to persist then play him in his correct position, on the right.
He is not and never was, never will be a no 9.

In agreement with this. Play him on the righr or not at all. He plays well for England due to him having Kane up top. We don't have that luxury

I'll ask again, on current form, what has he done to deserve to start ahead of Torres?
When was the last time we won a big game when he started?
It's nothing personal, I don't hate him, he's an employee of the club that's simply not delivering. The club will always come first, we're not a charity.
If it's a case easing him back in, he needs start against shit teams and work his confidence back.

Personally, I don't think we'll see best of him, he needs to move on and find a new challenge.
