So Who Next?

Postby Niall Quinns Discopants » Mon Sep 20, 2021 12:02 pm

I mean Pep stated that he is about to leave anyways after his contract runs out. Then his latest comments and I get the feeling he is not happy with the transfer activity. I think it's more or less guaranteed he is leaving after this season.

So where do we go from there? Who is next in the line? Half the people here keep screaming for him to be sacked yet I don't see any names mentioned. You just can't get rid of someone without thinking someone better. So who is better than Pep?
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

No one thought Thomas Tuchel would do as well as he has, so maybe don’t focus on a big name.

It will be a in house appointment to try appease this group of players but someone expected to fail so we can usher in another big name with a different vision.

Depending on how they perform at their respective clubs it will be Vieira, Arteta or Kompany.

The ex Dortmund and PSG manager is a big name.

I've been impressed with Potter at Brighton. It's maybe too big of a jump for him at the moment but I do expect him manage a top team eventually.

I couldn’t even tell you the current Dortmund manager. TT himself wasn’t a big name - you wouldn’t expect him to be linked with top clubs when he left PSG, and to be fair he wasn’t.

Another name to throw into the in-house mix is Ronny Deila. Highly thought off by the City Group.

I doubt anyone of them will perform well - Conte would be my pick.

I think we'll have to go with someone who is suited to the group of players Pep will leave behind. They will fail and players will be moved on. Then we appoint a Conte type.

I would temp a german, to be honest. Flick comes to mind.
Tuchel, if he will be available at that time.

Rodgers, in all fairness, is a bottler. His European record is shite.

I wouldn't like the job of trying to find a replacement for the best in the business.

If he decided to leave - I obviously hope that's no time soon (which should go without saying really, but hey ho...), I'd actually be lost if I was tasked with this job. Conte plays a very different style, as do other managers, so this shite point I saw spouted that we're set up to holistically move forward would be null and void. He also seems to fall out and move on quite regularly so we'd be finding a new style and new manager again most likely.

I'm sure the club would look to see what managers try to play the game in the same way as Pep, so they're bound to be looking at Brendan Rogers, but that doesn't fill me with hope.

I suppose what I'm hoping for is that by the time he leaves there's a stand-out candidate out there who can take the reigns for another few years and try and keep this momentum going. I don't think there is right now.

No way will we be going in-house Kompany Arteta etc way too big a job for any novice. We have to be looking- Pep's latest prima donna rant following on from him deciding to tell the world that he was off says all is not well. Said it a few times now but Conte is currently available and I would be looking at him with s pre- contract before OGS gets the bullet. Maybe its a poisoned chalice trying to follow Pep much like the red shite with Ferguson, but the Spafia need to be looking at succession planning

Couldn’t discount the club going for someone like Zinedine Zidane with his CL record.

There is no guarantee they wont go for a novice, remember these are the same people who have left the squad without a striker or left back.

Im with Ross on the approach they will take, i don’t necessarily agree with it but thats how i see it.
derby day the scores were level,
then the goat was fed by neville,
silly boy should know for sure,
feed the goat and he will score!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

With our Spafia connections and both also ex- Farca? I think that's a non-starter. It will be interesting to see if the Spafia are here for the long haul, i suspect that they were also a sweetener for Pep to recreate the good old days at Farca but its a hell of an outlay for the three of them

I'd say that's ptobably quite close to what will happen. I'm not sure it will work out but they will he given at least some room to operate.

Be as it may he will leave sooner rather than later. He never said this was job for life. And I think he is serious about wanting to give international football a go.

I always said if he wants to go then fucking go as we will replace him by a manager who will have all the tools available to him to carry on that success.
One or two deluded cunts think otherwise....not me , we have a fantastic setup created by the owners and a playing style created by PG and this will be our ''City way"" from now on......I cannot see us employing a manager who will play boring defensive football !! can you ?
