Even where I live in Ireland I get the "Emptyhad" piss taking as soon as he said that about the fans i thought fuck me not again, it must be worse for you guys at home, this together with his references to us having no European history makes me wonder if he isn't being put up to all this. That cunt Klipperty does the opposite always feeding the Dippers with the wonderful atmosphere narrative, these comments almost spoil what was a good night for the club

but i do get it to some agree that he wants more fans in-ground for champs lg, it will be different on Saturday as most season card holders go

Looks like 45k

well done to all fans who went, i didn't go but not through choice as my legs are fucked now but i will go to some games and without 3k away fans it was a good crowd, maybe a few more fans could go instead of watching game in pub

Another own goal from Pep sadly.

He rarely bigs us up and often it's the opposition or their manager he lavishes praise on.

I think wanting a full ground on midweek night matches and wanting a family-friendly atmosphere are two goals that are hard to reconcile. We could have as many as 10 home midweek games in a season in cups (plus FA Cup replays, if these still happen) and another 5+ league games (some of which will be rescheduled ones to make room for cup fixtures), with relatively few of them falling in school holidays. That's a lot of late nights for a kid aged 7-13, and I guess parents will prioritize the league games that they've already paid for with the ST.

When we were kids and it was a night game at Maine Road we were getting back to Bury near midnight. I was okay because I was a bit older but my younger brother was fucked the day after. Plus my dad worked nights (again, working class as a printer) so he wouldn’t be able to use his season ticket and we’d most likely take a mate and have to drop them back off at home.

Exactly. And back then there were no European nights, and we'd more often than not get knocked out of the League Cup by Hull before the summer holidays were over. Kids that age can do it as a 'special treat' maybe 3 or 4 times a season, but you can't expect them to turn up to half a dozen matches on schoolnights between starting in September and breaking up for Christmas.

Khaldoon builds us up and thanks us for our amazing support every season, then Pep constantly digs us out. Surely the club have to say something to him now? All morning it’s been negative about City, when we should be hearing about scoring 6, Grealish’s CL debut, etc. It undermines what the club are doing.

Sadly, it's a touchy situation, with the hierarchy I mean.
He wins things, a lot of things and I am certain he is a primadonna. Some of his idiotic remarks are ignored for the greater "good".
But the question is why is he doing it? Is it on purpose? If so, why?

Great manager domestically, no denying that. But its mind boggling how he has such a propensity to shoot himself in the foot so bloody often. For an intelligent man it really is very bizarre.

Unfortunately I think that’s the case. Any other manager would be bollocked for this.

Anybody got the video of him saying this? Didn’t watch the aftermatch and would like to hear it.

Cheers, mate. Went and found and realised that I did actually see that interview and took no offence from it, just Pep doing a rallying call to the fans. I suppose the headlines from the press, and on this thread, escalates a somewhat innocent comment into a negative one. However, Pep needs to watch what he says as us Blues are sensitive when it comes to attendances, for reasons very readily documented.

On another note, spoke to a mate last night and he said it was a really difficult game to attend. Said he had problem getting his ticket (similar to City64), which came very late, and then there was problems with public transport so ended up driving, which he wouldn’t normally do. Also said that a couple of his mates haven’t renewed their membership due to being out of work and unable to afford it. Combine that with people still worried about COVID then it is totally understandable that crowds are a little down, especially in the CL.
