I hear you mate, even if I don't quite agree.

1) I will say I think going to a club like City is 100% a factor, but lest we forget that this also involves arguably other attitudes from some about race or "the other" in terms of English clubs owned by wealthy, "dirty" "human rights abusing" Arab owners.

2) I think we can see while Kane is quite capable of public hairdryer treatment for his decisions, given other factors, if he were not white nor seemingly fit well into a stereotype of a traditional "proper English lad" than the treatment would be measurably worse and we can already see that based on social media treatment of black players.

We can also point to Sterling's posts showing vastly differing coverage of Foden vs. Tosin's use of money for their families, which also conflicts with the idea it is mostly the club as it did little to prevent these articles being written and published, along with views about Raz's tattoo (Piers Morgan) and the gold sink story or whatever that was for his mum in another tabloid.

If it was just the club they are joining or on, then I wonder if it can be considered how that conflicts with the clubs black English players play for, 1 for Arsenal, and the other 2 who are are on joining Utd, who missed pens at the Euros and still received the racial abuse?

Seems a bit difficult for me to not include that as a factor when it comes to opinions of players.

Ah okay, I agree - problem is the race of our owners. “Oil money” is the most racist comment that’s pushed to one side and not talked about enough. It’s horrible.

Hopefully, Spurs will struggle in the future to attract decent calibre players once they now realise how awkward Levy is to deal with. I get that he wants to keep their best player and only real chance of silverware but in the long run it will do them more harm than good by keeping him

I always take the view that they simply mean "not internally generated" or whatever the term is that lets teams like united or Liverpool splash out but those who have benefitted from the most inward investment cannot. I do not doubt that if BP bought us it would be oil money, or if McDonalds bought us it would be burger money.

I disagree. I’ve heard the term “Arab money” quite often as well. Both have undertones of racism.

No one will say, “look at Villa spending all this dirty Oil money they got from City”.

Do these villa inbred fans realise one of their owners is actually Arab?

I did see a Tweet today from a Villa fan saying, “we don’t need your oil money” or words to that effect. A City fan responded saying, “no, because you’ve got your own oil money” and linked a profile on said owner.

Do you think I'll get away with calling spuds money "Jewish money" or if the owners were black "black money"?? I'll guarantee there would be an uproar, even on here. Do you know what goads me, these fucking hypocrites clubs and media all accept oil money when it fills their coffers, who do you think pays premier League for broadcasting rights in Middle East, how much is it worth! That same money is shared by the 19 fucktards premier clubs whom preach human rights. I hope we sign Messi and Kane just to piss them off

Been for my usual early doors with my mate and he mentioned summat called the Webster ruling?

Specifically, it states that any player who signed a contract before the age of 28 can buy himself out of the contract three years after the deal was signed. If he is 28 or older the time limit is shortened to two years.

So basically if Kane bought himself out (pay his wages for 3 years) that'll be £31.2m, then we give Kane a 'welcome' signing on fee of say £30m we would be quids in.

I'm sure his bank would give him a bridging loan for a few days?

Thought's?

Can't be as simple as that surely
Otherwise what is the point of a contract.
A lot of trust there as well. Suppose he did buy himself out and failed the medical or broke his leg before he could sign? He is bankrupt

Apparently it isn’t just wages that are considered in the buy out, it’s also the cost of a replacement for that player. So Spurs could get Kane to pay them the £30m and then take it to court and say it will cost them £150m to replace him and they’re getting nearly £200m then. Gets a bit messy.

Calling it bkack money or Jewish money would be racist, whichever way you look like it, and totally unacceptable. Calling it oil money, whilst crude, is in my view another way of saying it is from external sources. That's what I meant.

@£60m I would have said OK, but it does sound too good to be true.

I've said before I wouldn't want us to pay £100m let alone more for him.

Haaland I like and would love but I don't see it happening.

The problem with a player like Haaland is, we can't be sure if he will always turn it on. At least with a teenage Messi , at that time , Barca had no need to dump him and to keep hold of him cost them nothing extra.

No doubt Haaland has done really well, however the prices being quoted are just ridiculous.
