We are possibly about to smash our own transfer record and quite possibly the British transfer record as well. Is anyone else a little bit "meh"
I am just not excited by it all and I feel a momentous occasion like this should get me excited

Quite right, yet people seem to think it's a good idea to ship him out so we can buy someone else who'll take three seasons to bed in..

I wouldn’t get rid of him just yet. But I can see their point - get rid whilst his value is still high. We may end up with a Dias that just fits in straight away and smashes it.

Makes me laugh all this get rid of Mahrez talk. As you say, he's been our most dangerous player all last season, and he's come out saying he wants to stay long term.
People are talking like he's an expendable squad player.

I think you need to expand your attention span. ”People” are not talking like he is an expendable squad player, "people" are saying those from above are over 30 and we need to start to think how we are going to replace them from next summer, make the transition because at some point they will not be the same, like it happened with Yaya, Sergio, Dave.
And maybe get a few quid.

Underwhelming isn't it. It's the sort of thing rags boast about.

Attention span indeed. "People" have been saying it since the end of last season, and certainly not in the context of his age. Something I never heard said about Yaya, Sergio, and Dave

It's got to the point where City fans are having to rehydrate by the gallon to keep topping up the pots.

Twitter is absolutely alight with not just villa fans but fans of all clubs. We are officially hated by all.

To be fair the rags were hated by everyone when they were successful, unfortunately it comes with the territory.
Fekkit, don't care, I'm enjoying their meltdown. More tears please when we sign Kane

Apparently in today’s papers Villa have offered more in wages than we have but he wants to win things and Villa feel they are 2/3 years away from doing so!

Didn't we fiddle the books a few FFP years ago by switching a lot from wages to bonus though? So if we keep winning he'll get more.

Wonder with the arrival of Grealish will we see Foden more deeper this season, probably his eventual natural position.

Pretty sure Foden is still injured - just to head off Carl on the pre-match thread Saturday.

I do rate Grealish. He's a player you always get a game from, always an influence and a creator. Why that idiot didn't start him for England I have no idea. If we do lose Bernie for him I would make the comparison that Bernie always puts in effort, but is sometimes brilliant other times almost anonymous.

None of that with Grealish

Bang on ..from the MEN:
Man City's Jack Grealish transfer record has the hypocrites raging again
Man City's Jack Grealish transfer record has the hypocrites raging again
Aston Villa fans are understandably upset but some of the reaction to Manchester City has been laughable.
Part of the fun about being a Manchester City fan these days must be seeing just how much outrage the club generates, simply for doing what other clubs have been doing for years.
And as the Blues stand on the verge of breaking the British transfer record - for the first time in 13 years and only the second time in their history - the levels of criticism and anger are about to reach boiling point.
Aston Villa fans are understandably upset at the prospect of losing Jack Grealish, their best player and a Brummie who they hoped would place his love for the club above his ambition to win major trophies and play on the biggest stage.
Genuine supporters will be hurt by the player’s apparent decision to go, and City fans will have sympathy for that viewpoint - losing a favourite player is tough, as Blues found out when Shaun Wright-Phillips was head-hunted by bigger, more powerful Chelsea in 2005.
But Wright-Phillips went with the blessing of all rational City supporters - they understood his motives, and he was welcomed back with open arms when the move did not work out for him.
You would like to think most Villa fans feel the same way about Grealish. But the hilarious fan who was filmed pleading with Grealish not to leave to join “a club that was only formed ten years ago” deserves no sympath
