Father Ruben

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

Father Ruben

Made of different stuff. Writing on the wall for a bloodied head bandage in the final with such heroics. Put his life on the line for City!

What a signing.

Do you recall people moaning he was our 4th choice.

I hate to think how good the other 3 were!

As it stands the best CB in the world and it's not actually even close.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

My Benfica fan mate is taking the piss everytime he has the chance saying we should pay them more.

I recall back last fall when he told me we got ourselves a gem and ignore he is slow, his body movement is something else.
I just don't understand why he wasn't our first choice. Thank fuck we backed from Koulibaly and Kunde and got him.

At the moment he is, by far, my favorite City player. Has something of Zaba.

I must admit, I'd never heard of him. Our scouts are obviously doing their job though. I've just had a trawl through the interweb to see if anyone else was in for him and the only story I could find was Mourinho was linked with him in the January window before we signed him and the Spuds fans were getting a bit giddy. Mourinho decided to strengthen elsewhere and the rest is history. That makes it even sweeter. "Let's have a look at what you could have won" - Jim Bowen.
Balotelli......that's a brilliant finish.

His value is so much more than individual brilliance though - he also gets the others playing to a higher standard. Very inspirational.

Alf Ramsey said he didn't need the best players in the world to win the world cup. He needed players that were the best fit for his team.

As all dominating as Ruben has been, Johnny has found the best fit for his game. Partnerships like theirs can take years to form, but less than a season and they are the best defensive unit in world football. Only have to look at his England farce with Cro-Magnon as his partner to spot the difference.

Do you really think that he actually was 4th, or even 3rd or 2nd choice?

Smoke and mirrors I think.
