Good point about Levy.
I think Pep was correct to apologize despite SG's behavior last match last season.
Pep was making a different point using the SG slip as an example of that point. He was not having a dig at SG. The media would milk that as an attack on SG even though it was not. It was just a bad example to use. By apologizing he kills the media narrative, which they definitely would have spun in future.

He doesn’t kill the narrative at all mate. Gerrard himself could come out and say he’s okay with it and it was only a joke, and the media would still report it as Pep having a dig and making him the bad guy. That’s the media.

You only have to look at Wednesday night. Kev pushes Arteta when trying to take a quick throw and then after the match they shake hands. No issues. The media have made out like Arteta was dropped with one punch by Kev.

The actual apology was unnecessary.

"I apologised to him personally but I have to do it here as well. I'm so sorry for him, for Alex his wife, kids, family because it was stupid."

His wife and kids  as if he’s assaulted him and effected their lives. It was totally unnecessary to do.

Very interesting from Pep on why he plays different players depending on the requirements of a particular match.

That's how I interpret it. Bringing in the missus and the kids tyrbs it into pure sarcasm.

I don't understand the man.
I really don't.

Is he tired of winning? And want to challenge himself?
I don't buy this team know us and we need to adapt. We almost never played our best eleven this season.
We don't need to adapt, we are superior if we play our best players, but we never do.

Instead we are trying to fix something that was never broke in the first place with players out of position and systems that did not work and will never work.

It drives me crazy.

Me too, I knew after 10 mins of the second half what was coming. Strikers not at it at all today. Bring Ake on to shore up the defence for the odd attack that they could muster and Alvarez for Kev with a minimum of 15 minutes to go as he had one of his howlers today. If he’d done that we’d have been ok in my view.

And when the opposition make their substitutions to give them fresh blood the game pattern swings. Pep is the most reactive manager regarding subs in the league. Rarely is he proactive. It’s possibly one of the very few things I’d change in his management style. The other main one being having a solid, consistent defence and not changing two and sometimes even three players each game.

Completely agree the only thing they were trying was a quick release down the left in space to side of Laporte, it was crying for ake to close that one avenue. The one they did get through was ridiculous Bernardo going out of position pressing when no need creating space behind and Laporte letting them walk past him, danger was in behind , foul take the booking and reset with Dias there would fancy us to be able to defend the set piece properly.

A day of shit finishing, did we have many more chances at home to them when we scored 6?

Refs a Cunt and VAR a joke, from first set piece Laporte thrown on his arse and nothing given, constant kicks and fouls waved play on when we have ball never coming back for the free. Definitely 2 pens we should have had and a red card for their defender.

Shit result but if we took one of the other chances before hour mark they would have sat in and hoped not to be battered for goal difference and we be resting players for Wednesday. Takes all the gloss off a good week, let’s pressure ease off arsenal and gives them huge boost.
