Summer Transfer rumours

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

First up, John Terry was playing for Forest when he was 20.

Take for example your stance on Denayer, was it really beneficial to anyone to extend Demichelis' contract by a year last summer than give Denayer his place in the squad?

Take the Delph signing as another example, would we not have benefitted more from giving Bryan, Glendon or Byrne his place in the squad?

In both them examples we have very little to lose and a lot to gain if we take the chance in my opinion.

There are lots of different points on which i disagree with you on here John.

Firstly, not many complained pre takeover about kids not getting a chance, many did get a chance, infact in about 5 years we gave debuts to over 20 youth players including Flood(who is more than a decent player not sure where it went wrong for him). Some of these kids saved our bacon at the time Barton Richards Ireland etc.

Secondly, the kids nowadays are of a far higher standard(as are we), no logical person is saying to play them all the time but there are certainly times when a kid could be introduced and hasnt been. Late in games when we are comfortably winning we bring on the likes of MDM, games where we have nothing to play for we stil play half arsed senior pros who will learn nothing. This isnt good because a) young players need gametime to develop b) what sort of example does it show to any potential young superstar that we never give young players a chance?. There are of course times and places to do this but under Pelligrini there was never a time or place. You use Iheanacho as an example, he is a bad example he is an exceptional talent that was criminally underused last season in favor of an out of form, struggling player who barely tried.

Thirdly we are going to get biten on the arses from young players who eventually leave us to become top players because we never gave them a chance, you could argue it happened with Sturridge(i wont) and we are seeing it with the likes of Suarez at Barcelona and Karius at liverpool, both are players that could do a good job for us now.

For the record i do get your point lots are screaming for young players for the sake of it but you on the other hand are at the opposite end of the scale, there is definitly middle ground where we can blood youngsters in certain circumstances.
derby day the scores were level,
then the goat was fed by neville,
silly boy should know for sure,
feed the goat and he will score!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Like a broken record I know, but I've maintained for a long time that there is enough potential in the academy to fill squad places that we are currently paying top dollar for in the transfer market. It is not the first eleven, team places that we are talking about.

Take Stones for example. Some people like him and some don't. Yes he has PL experience. I would argue that paying an over-inflated price for him because of his potential and nationality is ridiculous when you have Aradabioyo slightly younger and with as much potential already in your academy. I would have argued similar for Sterling at the time. The money you would save could go towards genuine first eleven starters that are already fulfilling their potential.

I think that this will be the first steps in the academy starting to work. The academy will get stronger for it. The cream of young skillfull players will want to come to City knowing that it is the top academy, but if they also see clear evidence of the progression made by youth players, it can only help.
Eventaully you will produce some absolute gems that will walk into the first team.

I feel this is missing Sahin, Kagawa and Gotze all leaving and then coming back.

Good luck to them.

But remember we buy some pretty good internationals and give them absolute shit when they are playing for us.

Just sayin!

United have signed Mikhitaryan and Zlatan and are rumored to be in for both James Rodriguez and Pogba.
Supposedly Arsenal are now in the lead for Higuain.

Obviously theres more time in the window but we've only brought in Gundogan and are being linked with youngsters, keepers, Stones, and Sane.
A little bit worrying...of course those rumored transfers above could wind up being just that
