Well fuck me.

And we aren”t on the 1st of July yet.

True and you look at that lineup and the defence is glaringly obvious the next area to deal with

And we probably need to look at all four of those defending positions, starting at right back and working across.

I am ok with Sagna for another year and also with Zaba (call me sentimental). But, I would buy three more players: Two left defenders and one center back and that would be it for me.

I would be disappointed to start the season with Sagna and Clichy as or beat two fullbacks. Seems ridiculous and won't work for pep I don't believe. We need one of each probably a LB first. Alaba would be my dream signing there but zero fucking chance.

We may honestly need to spend 100m on our defense this summer. No fucking joke.

Cheers

We're definitely in the market for full backs and I think Pep has some names up his sleeve.

A 3-3-2-2 will be better for our new coach! I'd quote for: HART; OTAMENDI, LAPORTE, MANGALA; FERNANDO, GUNDOGAN, FERNANDINHO: SANE, DE BRUYNE: AUBAMEYANG, KUN
From Torino, Italia to Manchester, Lancashire this City is always our City!

Didn't mean to imply that Pogba came though at ToD(ebt),

Just that all the bull that gets spouted about the rags and time after time they were able to buy out of trouble .

There was a lot of fuss at the time about it, with Le Havre threatening to take scum to court over the transfer, saying there was an illegal approach, or his parents had been bribed, or he was underage, can't quite remember what.
It all died a quiet death, so I assume the rags gave Le Havre a bung

Wash your mouth out with soap, you know that Pogba, along with Martial and Tranny came through the famous swamp academy

Does pep play in that formation? It's an honest question. I rarely watched him at Bayern. Really only a few CL matches and I thought it was a conventional back four iirc.

Cheers

I've just finished to read Herr Pep and that's the way he often played with that horrible Bavarese Mafia's squad!

What I got from the same book is that Pep is not tied to formations as such, and 3-3-2-2 might be one possible representation of the average position of his team in certain games, but one of the back three was usually a full back that could push up into midfield if necessary (Alaba, Lahm) and Rafinha was often one of the midfield trio that could drop back to switch the defence to a more conventional 4 again. I don't see that flexibility in the suggestion for our lineup.

Zabba a couple of years ago would've been good for that role. And Both Ferns can drop deep RO cover in defence. We lack the right full backs now, though.

Nicely done! I wouldn't mind seeing Sagna rotate between third CB and pushing slightly further forward on occasion, at least for a season, but it's clear that we need upgrades at full back and we may well see Pep spend a summer teaching our youth players on how to blend these two roles - he likes to work with a blank slate. Bellerin is already well schooled in the Barca way (Juego de Posición, focusing on what to do in any given situation on the pitch) so the rumours surrounding his possible signing make a lot of sense, even if Arsenal refuse to let him go.

I just had the idea that he could go in for Thomas Muller and got rather excited. Can't see him leaving Bayern any time soon but what a player.

Was this while you were selecting him for your Euro Fantasy team by any chance? That would be exciting but he strikes me as a career Munchkin

No, I haven't started that yet. I want Grez to sweat on his shitty two-man league for as long as possible!

Muller would be the perfect signing just because he's so fucking good. Can't even be arsed to think about systems - he's so versatile anyway.
