Sterling could not cope at Anfield so he would struggle here on a big occasion against a big club. MP got some stick for taking him off but it was MP who backed him by starting him. I can't see him doing that again. It's Nacho in the middle if Yaya can't make it.

Which means moving KDB out wide where he did little last time. His best position is in the middle, so stick him there and manage the others around him

Done nothing for 43 minutes, moves inside, sets Fernandinho up. Get Yaya off, Sterling on the left and KDB where he needs to be

Might risk him chucking the toys in a big way but Kun hasn't lifted a finger in either leg of the quarter or semi final and it's maybe time for Kelechi.

Kun looks lost and totally overawed.

The only thing I can think of is we are reserving our energy to go all out onslaught second half as we look way off the pace in that first half. Not enough effort being put in off the ball. Still only one down to a fortunate goal it's all to play for still.

Been completely off the pace, even with the simplest things. High balls over the top are pointless, though.

A pretty abject half, what with the captain injured and going behind. That said, if one of the Sagna, Fern1 or Navas opportunities had gone the way Bale's cross did, it'd be a different game.

I think you lot are far too negative. I agree with the tactics. After conceding it was important to just ride out the storm. Had we started pressing like mad men right away, they would have countered us to pieces. No, let's just sit back until 20 left and the throw the kitchen sink at them.

Reasonably happy with all players, despite Kun. He's a shadow of himself. Clichy's been great so far.

Surely the undead one has to change it at half time. Doesn't need to worry about extra time either

Whilst it is still one or even just two goals in it we are not out of it. It only needs a bit of luck, a set piece or a moment of individual brilliance to change it round. Atletico barely touched the ball in the first half last night, but they retained their shape and took the chance when it came.

Of course, they were fucking trying and working their bollocks off, but still
