Hey,
Im trying to acquire some tickets to an Ajax match while visiting Amaterdam in a few months. For those of you who have gone to foreign clubs' matches how did you get tickets? Through the club's website? Is there some sort of aftermarket website?
Having never been to a European football match Im not certain how to approach this.
Cheers lads

I would thinking checking Ajax official site would be your best bet mate, but like you I have never been to a game abroad.

I've been to watch Atleti when I lived in Madrid and I would just show up at the ticket office a day or two before the game. If they weren't playing Real or Barcelona, there tended to be a few tickets available.

The link LAHAD posted is your best bet (
https://www.visitajax.com/). It gets you a day-tripper ticket, including a bloody Ajax scarf, in a section with fellow day-trippers.
To buy a ticket in any other section of the ground, you need to have a "club card" and to get one of those, you need to be written on a Dutch address. This goes for pretty much all Dutch clubs. I have a club card for FC Utrecht, for instance, and I need to show it when buying tickets for all games except a few classed as low-risk by the police.

Tangentially, since im anticipating liking going to a European football match, if i were to try to go to other clubs' matches is the club website generally the best place to try and get tickets?
Any idea how early in advance tickets are available considering ive got to make travel arrangements?
Im used to being able to buy an NBA ticket a few months in advance. Not sure if that will work in this case

I'd never help anyone trying to get a ticket for the Dutch rags. Any other team in Holland, I would have been happy to help :)

they are expensive, usually a large mark up on the Face Value of the ticket

Any of you lot ever gotten tickets in a standing section? If so, how often would you suggest showing up to the match in advance because there arent assigned seats?
Cheers

Standing section in Germany is often season ticket only. Here in Bremen the People who wnated to have a good view Show up 1h before kickoff, the People who like to have a few beers arrive within kickoff time.

Do you have to pay for one of those? What about teams like Breda, who are literally a 15-minute bike ride from the Belgian border, and other clubs that might have expat regularly-travelling fans?
A club card/membership system has been introduced by some clubs here recently. It gives you reduced price tickets for some games, and I think you need to be a member to buy tickets in certain parts of the ground.

I'm not too clued up on how other clubs do it to be honest, and clubs close to the border might do it differently, but for FC Utrecht you do need a Dutch address. You also need to send a copy of your ID when sending in the application form and you will not be granted a card if you already have one for any other professional football team in the Netherlands. The card is free, but if you want one that gives you the right to buy tickets for away games as well, you have to pay 15 euros.
You can loan out your club card, but you are responsible if the one borrowing misbehaves.

Just checked the NAC Breda website and they seem to have the same general rules. The rule about not being allowed to have club cards for more than one club is apparently a decision of the Dutch FA. There's no field on the application form to write a foreign address, only a Dutch.
