Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

About two hours ago a 15ft wide 40ft deep sink hole appeared on the Mancunian Way!
The road is expected to be shut for weeks whilst they sort it out. Thankfully the road had already been shut due to flooding, so no injuries!!
Not sure about anyone else but that is the way i come in, up Princess Road and then along Manc way then Ashton Old road before turning into Alan Turing way.
Thought i'd put in Maine forum as it'll likely affect some of you coming from out of town?

Been working close to that area today and it has been chaos . Unbelievable amount of rain has fallen the last 24 hours or so and the drains simply couldn't cope with it all . Fans travelling by car need to make route changes and set off earlier on Sunday for sure ! I'm on the train , happy days ! lol
Not really here

On the bright side, we've now got somewhere to bury all the dead wood from the squad.

Incidentally, is this a genuine sinkhole or is it mining-related? I'm fascinated by sinkholes.

It could be a sinkhole - there's a history of them in Greater Manchester (they had one on the Corrie set last year apparently). It's the right (or wrong) type of rock in the area for them to form.

I know this'll sound mad, but if you're coming in from the south (M6 or southern Manchester) go round the M60 to the A62 (Oldham) and head into Manchester from there. Never any queues.
The centre of Manchester and the other way round the inner ring road will be gridlocked

Good shout, first game at ETIHAD against Barca (Thomas Cool trophy) I went that way iirc but just didn't have 'that feeling' hence every time ever since I've done Princess Parkway etc.
Call me a sentimental old got bit but it's all part of the journey, signs for Northenden where my Nan lived, a glimpse over toward Maine road was etc etc.
I did it on Monday whilst up and Tuesday in reverse.
The traffic for you locals will be friggin nightmare for weeks to come.
I won't be up myself now until October (hoping to get to the Spurs game).

I grew up in Failsworth then New Moston, so feels perfectly fine to me. My mum still lives that way and I have to pick her up for the match, hence why I use that route. On occasion when she's not going, I go direct from Sale and I'm sure it takes longer than going to the opposite side of town first
