I seem to recall at Barca Pep would only commit to one years contract at a time. Bayern seem to be in the same boat as Barca were with Pep.

But surely that was because he was planning on leaving but didn't quite know when, & he was g.o.d. at Barca ? Do Bayern really need him ?

I think it was because he found the intensity and pressure at Barca so draining. Apparently that's why he needed to take a year off to recover and recharge.

I agree he is less idolised at Bayern, but would they really sack one of the best managers in world football?

They got rid of a brilliant manager before Pep. (Can't remember his name) but i do remember his Bayern team totally destroying Barca in UCL

Jepp Heynckes he's manage Bayern 3 times and was 68 when he retired.

On 21 June, in an interview with Der Spiegel, Heynckes said: "After everything that's happened over the past two years, I'm ready for some peace and quiet. After this string of successes, I could transfer to just about any club in Europe. I have a problem with the finality of saying 'never'. But I can assure you that I have no intention of coaching again. I had a worthy ending."
