That's what I said from the day one when they introduced these rules! Players are generally looked into as age groups but UEFA looks into it throughtheir own silly transfer windows. This is of course the exteme example missing out by three days but it should have been "the year player turns 18" or something along those lines. You can't sign players outside windows and considering rapid developement of this kids during their formative years 6 months between january and july is lkke decade for older players.
(or the end of the Season during which he turns 21)
Would that be the season that finished in May, the month before he turned 21 or the following season as he turns 21 in the off season
While the competitions mostly stop in may, the official end of the season to my knowledge is last day of june and new season begins 1st of july according to UEFA.
if thats the official line, then we are OK :-)

Posted in the Delph thread but copying here for info;
If I have the signing date of 1st July 2013 correct then Denayer will count as homegrown next season and indeed as club trained.
here is the rule: A “club-trained player” is a player who, between the age of 15 (or the start of
the season during which he turns 15) and 21 (or the end of the season during
which he turns 21), and irrespective of his nationality and age, has been
registered with his current club for a period, continuous or not, of three entire
seasons (i.e. a period starting with the first official match of the relevant
national championship and ending with the last official match of that relevant
national championship) or of 36 months.
He signed before the start of the 13-14 season and the 15-16 season will have finished by the time of his 21st birthday on 28/6/16 so will already have been with us for the 3 complete seasons.

Denayer signed a new deal and has flown out to be with the Aussie tour and will be in the first team squad this season.
We've seen Nacho feature in pre-season so far but where is Lopes?
I'm not really a City fan. I'm just here for attention.

Played in one of the youth tournaments. Getting an extended reSt like the argies.
"I used to be 6 foot 2 with curly hair, look what it's done to me"
"In my career so far it's the most important goal. You score the goal in the last minute to win the title. You're not sure if that's ever going to happen in your career again. I wish I could tell you how I did it but I can't. I thought for all the world that Mario was going to have a go himself but he just moved it on one more and it fell at my feet and I just thought: 'Hit the target, hit it as hard as you can and hit the target.' And it went in."

Just watched the friendly v Roma and I know it's just a friendly but those of us who were/are I think have been proved right about being excited about Denayer and iheanacho, they are ready, especially Denayer, though if jovetic and dzeko go, I really think iheanacho makes sense - not quite as convinced about lopes for the first team - I think barker needs a decent loan this season (Bournemouth or watford please) but isn't far away from making a case - delighted.

Ian is going to be a star somewhere, hopefully with us. I liked the look of Lopes too. The three of them are clearly that little bit close than Barker, Garcia et al right now.

Forest wouldn't be a bad shout for Iheanacho. At least I could get to see him once in a while

Even though he still has a bit to do. I would seriously have him ahead of dzeko now as third striker behind serg and Wilf.
No loans.

Some papers saying Mendes wants Otamendi to go to City and we've offered a better financial pkg than United.
If this happens i wonder how Denayer will feel (unless it coincides with Mangala going to Monaco).

Surely Mangala will not go to Monaco? They haven't got any cash for one

Devante Cole given a run by West Ham tonight. Thinking of offering him a deal.

And newcomer Roberts too.
Great for the lads. I think Garcia deserves it too from what I've seen during preseason.
