I would have had a feeling of misery underneath, no matter who we signed, if he'd left.
Great news.
Peter Doherty (AGAIG) wrote:Yep, seriously happy about this. I reckon he must be nailed on for the first-team squad, also.

Oddly enough Ted, this is one I never doubted.
Maybe just a case of ignorance being bliss.

"A home-grown player will be defined as one who, irrespective of his nationality or age, has been registered with any club affiliated to the Football Association or the Football Association of Wales for a period, continuous or not, of three entire seasons or 36 months prior to his 21st birthday (or the end of the Season during which he turns 21)."
It's all good he will be classed as homegrown

As the rules say, he signed for us three days after his 18th birthday meaning he will have spent 36 months three days after his 21st brithday meaning he doesn't qualify by three days. Football season officially starts 1st of july and again he misses by three days.
He will not count as homegrown.

That's what I said from the day one when they introduced these rules! Players are generally looked into as age groups but UEFA looks into it throughtheir own silly transfer windows. This is of course the exteme example missing out by three days but it should have been "the year player turns 18" or something along those lines. You can't sign players outside windows and considering rapid developement of this kids during their formative years 6 months between january and july is lkke decade for older players.

Would that be the season that finished in May, the month before he turned 21 or the following season as he turns 21 in the off season
