Other than you talking shit the obvious thing that sticks out is that we are miles off these two in terms of possession and work rate :(

I disagree.
I think we are closer than you think.

Barca looked ordinary in the second half but to be honest, they do that a lot when they know they have the tie won.
I think both these teams are capable of playing proper competitive football at a much higher tempo than we can. We have a bit of a gap to make up.

Love to be proven wrong. we can compete. But much like scum21 today we generally get outplayed and out worked for 70% of the game but occasionally create a chance or three.
Would love to see us control a game in Europe like we do/can in England.

The gap is getting closer, and I expect it even closer next season. Always, my concern is that we will get one of the real big clubs (maybe 3) in the group stages and one of the big 3 in the knock-outs.
They are not set this way for nothing, the draw is weighted in the big clubs favour and if it looks to be going wrong, they always have the ref to even it up.

Just watched a recording. We are miles off that physically even moreso than football wise imo but if we played either, we would pass it like Stoke on the night as well. We seem to have an inferiority complex when it comes to passing the ball, when we face those sides & can't keep it.
I think Bayern might have won both legs with a fully fit Robben, but when I look at how absolutely pathetic the central defnders often are on both sides, then read stuff about how we should fuck VK off; he would fucking walk into either of those teams.
It, just shows how good both are as teams that they can carry wankers like that & still hammer everybody. And Benatia is not a better signing than Mangala btw.

Both defences are poor in my opinion, but rarely come under the kind of pressure ours does. When put under pressure they are both prone to the type of cock-ups that our lot get pilloried for. It's the overall work rate of both teams that keeps the pressure of their defences.

and if it had been kun going down under the same challenge, he'd be screaming for a pen. which of course, wouldn't be given.

Agreed. But did you see the elbow from Vidal? There was intent there, you could see it in his eyes

I've always been in the camp that if you're already going down before the contact it is a dive. the challenges would've resulted in penalties, but for me James dived in both of them

I thought that the penalty was a soft one where the player had already decided to go down from the the first touch, the kick on the calf sealed it for him.
I just think/feel Carlos is going to have a say in this game.
