True. But you could easily argue the manager and players they brought in (or already had) are better than the ones they replaced
Koeman > Poch
Clyne > Chambers
Forster > Boruc
Tadic = Lallana
Pelle > Lambert
This season Bertrand > Shaw
Long > Ramirez
And not sure about Lovren vs Alderweireld

In a perverse way, Southampton have avoided the 'second season' syndrome by changing their Manager and two thirds of their team in the summer.
They could well go on to have a good campaign this term and then possibly show some reversion only in 2015/2016.
By the way they are going at the moment (although it's a very long and arduous season), it's not beyond the bounds of possibility that they could be battling it out for fourth (or even third ??) spot next April/May time, which would be nice if it meant that the Scum and Liverpuddle were to miss out as a consequence.
As has been said before; "It's a funny old game".

The idea of Southampton coming 4th has just given me something extra to get excited about for this season.
Imagine if they were to pull that off then someone like Spurs or Everton got their shit together later in the season, turned over the rags, Arse & dippers & got top 3 ?
Platinitastic.

It's never ever gonna happen, but it's a nice fantasy for days like today when Chinners fails to deliver a good wag.

Would be lovely to see but when the injuries bite, and they will inevitably do so in the cold winter months when the fixtures pile up, they will likely fall away somewhat.
Im supremely hopeful they do finish above Liverpool and Utd though having trousered daft money from them this summer. Good luck to the Saints on this - play footy the right way and in Pelle they've found a striker better than Lambert, and in Tadic a player who so far has been head and shoulders above Lallana.

So after losing most of their best players and being tipped to struggle, they just keep proving the doubters wrong.
I'm impressed with how they've picked themselves up after they lost 5 on the bounce and now with back to back victories over Arsenal and Rags they really look like they can challenge for that top 4.
Will they make it or like so many previous 'surprise' top 4 challengers will they fall fade when it gets right to the business end of the season?

Certainly a very talented player.
They just might make top 4 which would make it seriously interesting to see which of the Arse and the Scum miss out.
But can't spend a zillion quid and fail can you?

I have to yet to hear the commentators mention money and scum in the same sentence. They are all probably out of breath from repeating money money money when ever we played to mention it elsewhere....fuckign biased cunts.
THEY SAY SWEARING IS DUE TO A LIMITED VOCABULARY. I KNOW THOUSANDS OF WORDS, BUT I STILL PREFER "FUCK OFF" TO "GO AWAY"

We REALLY need Arsenal to get into the mix properly and go on a good run. Southampton might not have enough to make it over the line but if they can stay in touch, it will keep United on their toes.

its amazing that they've only dropped 2 points from a winning position all season…..
so every time they've taken a lead in the league they've won….except once when they've drawn
I'm not really a City fan. I'm just here for attention.

Class player although I doubt he'll stay unless they get CL this season.

i think it was the situation that unsettled him, turmoil, all this team mates leaving and the manager stating he didn't think he could take the team any higher just before he jumped ship. I wouldn't be surprised if he wanted to stay with Koeman now though. They seem to have a genuine top four chance, and a far more credible chance than Spurs.
