Even more puzzling Douglas , 17 or 18 year olds don't get thrown in at the deep end these days . I was assuming more of an established world class striker .......... guess we will never know . No wonder we are wrapping up Sergio in cotton wool lately.

Possibly not if the African site I looked at is correct. As I posted in the 'loans' thread, they recon we are sending him out on loan in Jan.
The reason we let Negredo go is for personal reasons as Crossie has posted. Martin Samuel has a good relationship with City & has obviously been tipped off:
'It was a personal financial matter and nothing to do with football, but it meant Negredo and his wife, Clara, were no longer happy in their new country. It is even possible to spot the moment when Negredo’s dissatisfaction begins and his form falls off a cliff. He scores 26 goals up to January 21, and none after.
Pellegrini’s view was a compassionate one. He knew Negredo’s departure would leave City short up front, but felt the player was as good as lost to the club, even if he stayed. It would be kinder to let him go home.'

I do agree that Negrado was allowed to go for personal reasons. It seems we showed some compassion as the player made it clear he needed to leave. However, I find it intruiging that he left for "personal financial" reasons? He took a pay cut to help move things on, so how does that help his personal financial situation. It just seems an odd comment

How old was Rajeem sterling when he was thrown in? I wouldn't mind seeing us blood a youngster who can blossom as sterling is.

We will never now the details, as it's personal, but I have no reason to think Samuel is making it up.

I've heard that this personal 'financial matter' was that Negredo had put his whole year's salary on the rags to win the league and BetFred paid him out in the middle of January. Hence his desire to fuck off back to Spain as he thought he might have to give the money back at some point.

Apparently it's a loan with a compulsory obligation to buy for a set price. Not sure what that's all about but guessing it has something to do with Valencia balancing books for FFP purposes.
Surely if it a compulsory obligation to purchase then the accountancy treatment would treat it as a sale by MCFC with the balance merely outstanding to be paid next year.
Honestly haven't got a scooby mate. I'm no bean counter.
Isn't income only regarded as income when it (finally) comes in ??
Mind you, depending on the span of our financial year (is it something like July to the following June ??), it might only be a deferred payment within that period.
It works as does a P&L spread sheet.....only current income and loss counts , no other figure is taken into account until you have that income in the bank.
Not the case at all Carl, though you are used to cash businesses in a very specialised industry so I can see that it would appear that way from the spreadsheets you see where cash accounting and accrual accounting are virtually identical. Even in your industry you will have accruals and prepayments on the expense side though.
Sales go into the P and L at the time the sale becomes definite, including credit sales. The buyer becomes a creditor and the value of the sale goes into the profit and loss. If the money isn't subsequently received then it would become a bad debt and would be removed from the profit and loss as an expense at the time the debt became bad. In the meantime a provision might be made for the possibility of the debt going bad at a percentage rate.
I suspect that this particular deal has more to do with cash management at Valencia than FFP at City.

Poor old Negredo was booed by Valencia fans at the press conference because he refused to kiss the badge. Good lad, but not a great way to start your new career

seems a bit ridiculous to expect a player to kiss the badge before he has even kicked a ball, how, on any planet, is that meant to be sincere? dafties

Who in their right mind is going to kiss a badge two seconds after arriving at the club? He's not even a permanent signing yet.

Was he on loan at the time like Negredo?

Isn't it obligatory at The Swamp for all their new signings to do this, as well as reading from a prepared text which says it was always their life's dream to play for the Scum ??

Maybe, Wellbeck has told us he dreamed of playing for the Arsenal ! His first game is against us, where he has nightmares about being stuck in a pocket, I 'm gonna regret that comment I know it.....
