Manchester City to sanction £24m deal this deadline day?
Manchester City supporters in the Football Transfer Tavern are used to big money arrivals.
However, sources at Manchester Evening News reckon there could be a big name departure at the Etihad Stadium before the close of the transfer window.
The Premier League champions are considering an offer from Valencia for Spanish forward Alvaro Negredo, which would see the striker returning to La Liga on a season-long loan with the option of a £24 million signing.
Manuel Pellegrini is mulling over the deal which would see him left with three strikers until January at least, with Negredo behind the likes of Edin Dzeko, Sergio Aguero and Stevan Jovetic in the pecking order.
City are confident in the knowledge that Yaya Toure and David Silva are able to play further forward if required, but the move would go against Pellegrini’s idea of having two top players for each position.
City could be tempted to sell Negredo – who has not scored a goal since January after a superb start to his City career – with Financial Fair Play rules in effect.
Even of the striker were to stay, he faces being left out of City’s Champions League squad due to the rules regarding the number of ‘homegrown’ players.
The striker – nicknamed ‘the Beast’ – is out of action for a month with a foot injury.
Spurs not interested in signing Manchester City youngster
No Spurs interest in Nastasic, although we could probably do with him.
Spurs have no interest in signing Matija Nastasic from Man City, according to Sky Sports.
Last night, a journo from the Sun claimed Spurs and Ars*nal had enquired about the out-of-favour Serbian international, prompting speculation that we could launch a deadline day move, but nothing’s going to happen on that front apparently.
Arsenal 'make enquiry' to Manchester City over Alvaro Negredo
Arsenal have reportedly expressed an interest in signing Alvaro Negredo from Manchester City on transfer deadline day.
The Gunners are a little light in attack after the long-term injury suffered by Olivier Giroud and Spanish striker Negredo could be available to leave City after just one season at the Etihad.
talkSHITE commentator Stan Collymore revealed on Twitter that Arsenal could be his next destination.
"Hearing Arsenal have or are making tentative Negredo enquiries," said Collymore.
The 29-year-old, who is currently nursing a metatarsal injury, has also been linked with La Liga outfit Valencia
Sinclair off to Stoke
Scott Sinclair is set to be loaned out by Barclays Premier League champions Manchester City to the club which beat them on Saturday, Stoke City.
The Bath-born winger is set to join Mark Hughes' outfit on a 12-month deal, having also spent last season in the Midlands at West Bromwich Albion.
Mark Ogden, the Daily Telegraph's Manchester football correspondent, confirmed Stoke's interest on Monday afternoon.
Former Ralph Allen schoolboy Sinclair has made just 11 appearances since signing from Swansea City in 2012 and was told by manager Manuel Pellegrini over the weekend that he was surplus to requirements at the Etihad.
Stoke target Man City's Nastasic
Matija Nastasić is on Stoke City`s transfer deadline day radar.
The Potters look to bolster their back line with the Serbian Manchester City defender, who has been made surplus to requirements after the arrival of Frenchman Eliaquim Mangala`s arrival at the Etihad Stadium.
The 21-year-old centre half is said to available at around £8 million.
Any deal done could potential add fuel to the rumours that Ryan Shawcross could be on his way out of the club.
Radamel Falcao to earn £346,000 a week as Manchester United pay £24 million for season-long loan deal
Radamel Falcao’s season-long loan to Manchester United will cost the Old Trafford club a staggering £24 million, with the forward’s £346,000-a-week Monaco salary being paid in full by United.
United have secured the biggest coup of transfer deadline day by completing a loan deal for the Colombian forward, with an agreement in place for manager Louis van Gaal to sign the 28-year-old on a permanent basis next summer.
But the cost of signing Falcao, who had also been offered to Manchester City, Arsenal and Real Madrid, will inflict a significant dent in United’s bank account with the club also paying a £6 million loan fee to Monaco.
Arsenal manager Arsène Wenger has opted against a move for Falcao, despite French forward Olivier Giroud being sidelined with a broken foot until the new year.
And City also rejected the chance to pursue a move for the forward with the Premier League champions told that they would have to pay Falcao’s £18 million annual salary, plus a £10 million loan fee, to make the deal happen.
Senior figures at Old Trafford have insisted that they have negotiated a smaller loan fee with Monaco, but the club have confirmed that Falcao’s wages will be their responsibility.
Falcao landed in Manchester on Monday evening to undergo a medical at the club’s Aon Training Centre before finalising his transfer.
The former Atletico Madrid forward, who completed a €60 million move to Monaco in the summer of 2013, missed the World Cup as a result of a cruciate ligament injury suffered while playing for the French club in January.
Falcao returned to action during pre-season, when he played against Arsenal for Monaco in the Emirates Cup, but he has yet to fully prove his fitness following the injury.
With United already spending £146.3 million on new signings this summer, Falcao’s arrival will take the recruitment outlay beyond £150m with the loan fee.
Falcao is expected to leave Manchester upon completion of his medical this evening in order to link up with the Colombia squad ahead of this weekend’s friendly against Brazil in Miami.
