also, does signing Frank mean that we don't have to sell a foreign player in order to sign Mangala?

Someone has been plotting this for a while I would think and not only to bring in someone who can help steady the ship and help hold off teams to close things out but to kick up a right shit storm. I dont doubt for one second that this has been done to wind up others just as much as to help our team, its a very good move in many ways if you sit down and look at it without the tint of "but its fat frank". He knows 100% what is needed in the prem and Chumps league, he wont be fazzed by any of the shit we're getting chucked our way from the press and other hacks that simply cant bear to see us doing what we are. I think its piss funny and when he does step out onto the pitch for us against Chelsea will be right behind him as with all the others.

Why are people talking about him playing against Chelsea.
They will be our closest rivals this year and we're gonna drop ya ya or fernandinho for him? No chance.
Do agree this was done for the English quota and also as a massive fuck you we will do what we want to FFP and their shitty little carte.

no idea. thats why i asked. before we signed Frank on loan it was said that if we signed Mangala we'd have to sell a foreign player, but now that we've signed another English player i was wondering if that balanced out the squad #s so we don't have to sell a foreign player if/when we sign Mangala.

it does not appear to affect this at all.
clubs can only have 17 non-homegrown players in the premier league.
we already have 17, but with mangala it would take us to 18.
for the champions league we would have to drop two players from the lineup.
http://www.theguardian.com/football/201 ... ester-cityCity have to include at least five homegrown players and a maximum of 16 who are classed as overseas in a Champions League squad that has been reduced to 21 because of Uefa’s financial fair play sanctions. Premier League rules allow no more than 17 non-homegrown players.
Manuel Pellegrini wants to add either Porto’s Eliaquim Mangala or Roma’s Mehdi Benatia to his central defence which would bring the number of “foreign” players in the squad to 18.
City would then not be able to register one of their overseas contingent for their 25-man Premier League squad and would have to drop two from the Champions League squad.
what it does help us with, i believe, is if we -- as expected -- sell richards it would keep us from having to add a lower quality homegrown player from eds to those rosters to fulfill the homegrown quotas.

Wouldve been a great signing ... in 2007.
If Im James Milner and Fat Frank, whos legs went last season, gets games ahead of me then that's the coup de gras for me.
I get the experience thing he brings, but talk of playing him against Chelsea? Wtf the fookin fucl? If hes in our cent midfield then somethings gone shit shaped as Fernando, Fernandinho, Ya Ya & Milner all merit selection ahead of him in that area for starters. For Fat Frank I can see the benefit in terms of clubs profile, catalogue pictures, and the 3rd round of the Capital One.

I actually think that this is a good transfer. Lampard will be a good signing for our dressing room. This is a type of Paddy Vieira type of deal.
I am glad.
