Signed for Mackems, 4 year deal.
Will he oust mannone? He was outstanding last season(except against us!).
Best of luck to him either way!
derby day the scores were level,
then the goat was fed by neville,
silly boy should know for sure,
feed the goat and he will score!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Didn't see him staying in England tbh but I'm glad he did because I want to keep an eye on his progress.
Good luck Panty!

I have some interesting news about this.
From the sources here, he went to sign for Newvcastel, but in the last 24 hours, Sunderland made a better big offer for him, including the option in the contract he is the number one keeper.
Now comes the funny part. It seems we have buy back clause. Actually, Pants had another year with us, but the club let him go for free in exchange of this. When he signed with Sunderland, that was one of the conditions the black cats had to accept. Really weird imho.

I didn't think he was t of contract alright. He is better than Mannone but wouldn't be fairnn him after his performances to drop him.
Westwood out of contract too but I'm not sure he is good enough to be our second choice.

I initially liked the cut of Mannone's gib (or is it jib?) but as the season progressed I became less and less impressed with him.
Good move for Pants.

The only issue i have is that if hart decides to start the season being really shit again we've lost a very capable and dependable no 2

Glad hes staying in Prem as he his worthy of this league. Just wish he was staying with us. Just have fear if Joe goes off the boil again or picks up a knock. Still we have Richard Wright.

If Westwood counts as homegrown, then him as a free replacement is a virtual cert.
A Platini ffp signing to go alongside Boyata's new contract.
As for Pantilimon, good luck at Sunderland. Maybe he will let us actually score at their place for once.

I said this last summer when it looked as though Pants was leaving. Westwood is a no brainer IMO. Homegrown, free, probably cheaper in wages than Pants and has fought his way to the top flight starring in League One and then the Championship.

The one downside is if Hart does actually get injured, we are screwed!

Indeed. He made a genuinely important contribution to both trophies last season. Best of luck to him and thankfully he's going to a club that I like.

Westwood would be serviceable. You aren't going to get a world class keeper who's happy to be a number 2 and play Capital One games, the odd FA Cup tie and CL dead rubbers.
Im sure Pellegrini likes that Malaga Keeper but at age 32 he isn't going to come here to sit on his arse, nor can we afford to spew £8m - £10m to get him when we have our hands tied by FFP and need a centre half priority 1, 1A and 1B.
Too good a keeper as a reserve and the media feed on the BS about Hart possibly being dropped, and eventually the Keeper not playing wants out; too weak and you end up with someone like Hilario when he was at Chelsea and hopeless. Westwood is decent enough for what we need.
Tbh there's been a few home games in the PL where my 9 year old son could've been in our goals and we'd still have won with a cigar on, such is the amount of possession you dominate in those type of games.

not a fan of westwood, if Hart gets injured and he has to step up into the Big games, I fear the worst may happen.

Well I'm not saying your wrong, but at the very least Wright should move to full time coach and Johanssen should not be loaned out. If we need to get someone in who isn't on the homegrown list, then it won't be so bad. However most anyone we try to sign will be a complete negative on the P/L sheet as Pants went for nothing.
