I like him.

But he doesn't play for City?

He doesn't play for England.

He was our best player by a mile at Euro 2012.

This game is actually quite tasty, which is making for a nice surprise. No need for that Izaguirre petulance, though.

England looked the better team but not a good enough performance against a very mediocre Honduran side.Sturridges finishing was poor when he had chances.Barkley has looked really good he should be starting at WC.

Happy with that performance - I've got Honduras in the work sweepstake and there's a prize for the team who get the most cards. Think I'm in with a shout, considering that was just a warm up friendly.

Assuming the starting eleven were Roy's intended starters for the first World Cup game we at least have a formation that generates chances. The team would be more dangerous with Milner out wide instead of Welbeck (maybe on the right to cover for the lack of a defensive rightback), and Barkley playing behind Sturridge in a floating Silva role (and Rooney on the bench).

I'd agree with that, especially the Milner instead of Wellbeck.

Against Italy, I suspect both teams will want to make sure they don't lose, as they'll both fancy winning the other two games. Worst case would be an England loss, as Italy then play Costa Rica before Uruguay and you could see them not winning that last game if they already had 6 points in the bag. So expect a bore fest next Saturday

It was interesting listening to Hoddle etc after the 20 min break.

I'll qualify this by saying that Rooney is one of the strongest opponents I've seen City face in the Prem (not always).

Hoddle was looking at the formations & saying how Rooney should drop deeper, thus outnumbering their midfield/launching attacks.

I just thought about a typical Prem game, you could imagine Gary N**ille on commentary, with a hint of panic in his voice, saying "they've got to stop Silva getting in these holes, he's running the game, they're just asking for trouble.." etc.

So basically, if Silva played for England instead of Rooney, the team's football intelligence would go up 100%.

I noticed Barkley tried to do exactly that as soon as he came on & was great at it, until they all started playing cuntball, doing their own thing & stopped passing to him in there.

Also Sturridge: that's not a one off performance, that's what he is & what he does. For every curler into the top corner, there is a missed sitter, a dive, or a piece of greed. That's why he wouldn't get in our team.

nothing less than expected, we are shite and have a shite manager. A bunch of over hyped fuckwits picked to sell shirts not play football. Time and time again we pick the best players from the big clubs rather than the best team that could actualy play together and stand any chance of winning a couple of games. As for Woy, well what a joke.
Time we looked forward and took a young team of players that have a longer internation future and give them time to learn to play in the same team, drop the old boys who have let us down time after time. I kno Rooney is a tough player to be against when at united but for England hes been a let down far tomany times.

If Welbeck starts at the World Cup Roy needs his head examined.

I thought he played well. Not everything he tries comes off but he doesn't stop trying.

So because the cunt tries we should just persevere with him and fuck off the poor bastard that can actually do the job and leave him on the bench ????
