It might also be a way of giving Mangala the 'hurry up'.

Roma interested in Dejan Lovren to replace Benatia if he goes. Poor old Southampton; they're going to lose all their best players. No wonder Pochettino left. Unless Roma are really prepared to open the floodgates on wages they won't keep him. He's a top top player as 'Arry would put it but we would lose him for the fucking ACON in January. I suppose that's where MDM would come in.still a chance that Roma will cough up so we need to be careful not to be strung along by his agent. Mangala still in play but we'd be buying great potential; he's by no means the finished article.

Bit late for a birthday cake but he's only just turned 27. He does normally play on the right though as does Vinny obviously. Mangala plays on the left.

Just (by less than a month) 27 is old?!?.. Blimey, well throw me on the scrapheap as well then! Haha!

I asked my Roma fan brother what he thought of Benatia last night and he said to me he's not just the best CB currently at Roma, he may be the best Roma CB of the past 10 seasons and is the single reason Roma's defence went from shambles to solid brick wall.

Bodes well for us, even if he is an old bastard.

Solid and fast. Benatia would be a great signing for us playing with both Demi or Vinnie!
From Torino, Italia to Manchester, Lancashire this City is always our City!

Yes he will and so far Roma have not indicated publicly that they're prepared to sell so it's not in the bag by any means. Sagna has said publicly he's leaving Arsenal and that he will make his decision before flying off to Brazil which means next week. It will be a major surprise if he doesn't choose City. Fernando may be announced then as well. The centre back situation may take longer but the Club are trying to hustle things through now it seems. Still leaves a number 2 goalie.

Let's not forget the need to nail down some contract extensions. Top of my worry list is Kolarov who is openly being courted by Monaco. Txiki Txiki sign him up Tziki sign him up.

I hope he can play on the left and we don't splash too much cash on a 27 yr old

27 isn't old really. There's five years there easily at his prime. We won't spend more than £30m and if he's as good as many say he is then that's a reasonable price.

Sky Italia reporting Roma have refused opening bid of 16-18 million euros. Want at least 24.5 million.

I like that we're giving them a bit of the "barca" treatment.

You want 30? How about 16? Cunts. And meanwhile the guy had such a boner for our club and his pay raise that's its just a matter of time.

Yaaay, the predictable "hijack" of any City transfer story appears today.

Just about every City transfer over the past 6yrs has been supposedly hijacked by Utd/Real/Chelsea/Barca et al.

Just waiting now for the Silva and Kompany are leaving stories and my City summer transfer bingo card is full.

Liverpool need to net him before the WC or he could very well be Madrid bound. Doubt he'll do anything but impress in Brazil, it's a shame we appear to not be in for him, he's a long term solution at LB for us (or anyone for that matter).

We have been linked with him, there's been reports that we've scouted him through the year both from British and Spanish press but there doesn't seem to be any reports linking us lately. Keep an eye on the Kolarov to Monaco rumours, if that one materialises I'd say there's every chance we'll make a play for Moreno.

There again, I'm hearing great things about Angelino in the academy, if he realises the potential he allegedly has we could already have our long term solution at left back sewn up.

Apparently Benatia said on his way for talks with Roma management 'don't worry I'm staying at Roma' or something like that. Always a danger you get used by agents to bump up wages or get new contracts. Mangala looks a long way off too. Next Hummels?

Just read that we are in for Pepe again. £25 million sounds ridiculous for a 31 year old. In a couple of years we will spending that again on another CB.
I know it's difficult to get top class players, but I'd rather see us spend £35-£45 million on a quality player that will be around for a while than an ageing one for 10 million less that will be in and out for the duration of his stay.
