Inter Milan hadn't won a trophy in 16 years before Mancini and hadn't won the league for 18 years so him winning it for inter is kind of similar to him doing it at say Liverpool over here.
To start with the previous season before Mancini took over Inter obtained 59 points and finished 4th place. They were 23 points behind winners AC Milan, 12 points behind second placed Roma and 10 points behind third Placed Juventus.
In his first season (2004/05) They finished third place being 16 points behind Juventus and 5 points behind AC Milan. This was during the time when Juventus, AC etc were cheating and having corrupt referees officiate for them. Also wins Coppa Italia Cup.
For 2005/06 They finished third place again 15 points behind Juventus and 12 points behind Milan. Once again there were corrupt referees this year but this was when it was discovered. The title was handed to Inter. Also won Coppa Italia again.
In 2006/07 season Mancini's inter team managed to haul a whopping 97 points which is the most any team has ever got from Serie A as well as any of the other top leagues. They also set new highs for consecutive wins (17), most wins (30), most away wins (15), and consecutive away wins (11). Second-placed Roma finished 22 points behind. Some teams did suffer points reductions from the match fixing but you could give all the points back to them and Inter would still have won the league by a mile. Overall they had 30 wins, 7 draws and 1 loss. Granted Juventus were not in the league at the time. They also reached the final of the Coppa Italia cup but lost to Roma.
2007/08 season he won the league again for Inter with Juventus now back in Serie A. They had 25 wins, 10 draws and only 3 losses. They amassed 85 points. They also reached the final of the Coppa Italia cup but lost to Roma again.
In contrast Jose Mourinho won the league with them the next season with 1 point less than Mancini with 84 points. He also got to the semi finals of the Coppa Italia cup. Mancini has only ever been a finalist or a winner of the Coppa Italian cup.
So to sum it all up, we have got ourselves a winner in Roberto Mancini.

"Like all bullies, they've just found out that there is a much bigger guy in town, someone who is richer and more powerful than their worst nightmare. And this smiling Arabic assassin is intent on stealing all the treasures they've nicked off everyone else, and pulverising them into commercial and footballing oblivion as he does so."
