Shaw is an investment and is prob the best young left back I have seen in a long time. We need to battle for his signature imo.

So many things I disagree with about that...
But let's start with "EMNT"...really?
Goes downhill from there.

Hazy2 wrote:Add Luke and Mangala, that would be special, Shaw is going to be some player, I see him also adding 5/6 goals a season plus he will develop into a great free kick taker, according to Le Tissier. No brainer, we even have some players they might take as part of the deal, Micah, Rodders.

No way is he currently producing 30 million quid's worth of fullbackery.
We will also possibly lose one or two very promising kids from the youth set up if we do this.

I think this is an important point for City to consider.Shaw may well be good enough immediately and personally I think he is but if we do take him it does put question marks against our up and coming left backs coming through the ranks.
As it happens we have one,Angelino who is a real prospect but he is 2 or 3 years younger than Shaw and not ready yet plus a right back of similar age. City's " planning for the future" is probably more aimed at players currently 16 or under. Some good older players and hopefully one of those will make it like say Denayer/Pozo but the recruitment at the lower age groups would be the bigger hopes.

Angelino potentially looks a proper footballer to me, possibly a more intelligent one than Shaw, & possibly a more skilled one as well. Not as physically well built but in every other area, I would say potentially as good or better.
It's the build of Shaw in addition to his ability which sets him apart currently, for his age, imo. If he develops further then he will be out on his own, but will he ? Or will he be another Micah, or Michael Owen, or typical English 'wonderkid' player who peaks at 18-20 ?
Both he & Angelino could possibly end up not being fullbacks in the future though I suppose.
Wasn't Vieira raving about Greg Leigh recently ? He still hasn't had a chance yet.

Chelski have the spanish lad astalavista or whatever so cant see them wading in on this one, why would the fuck would shaw want to go to a mid table team like the rags? he would be better off staying where he is.
