It's wasted on here.
Made me laugh though.

Seriously, what games do you actually watch?
ashton287 wrote:NOPE this entire story is bullshit, "they marched out of the dressing room and confronted kaldoon and cook" what is this a fucking tom cruise movie was heal the world being played in the background while this was happening, did cook have to call security to drag the players from the boardroom in slow motion, did one of them turn round at the door and shout "THIS ISNT OVER COOK, YOU HEAR ME IIIIIIIIIIIT'S NOT OOOOVVVER"
FUCK OFF I ACTUALLY BELEIVE MY VERSION MORE AND I KNOW FOR A FACT I JUST MADE IT UP HA

For fucks sake let it drop, Hughes has gone and the manager you wanted in the first place has been brought in. You don't have to carry on the fucking snide digs at Hughes any more.
Which player has been played regularly based on being "best mates with the manager"? Santa Cruz has only started 2 games (and scored 3 goals in those games) and I'm assuming/hoping that you aren't referring to Bellamy??

Only missed one so far this season. I can't believe how Given stays rooted to his line. He has been great at stopping shots though that's true and recently he's been a dab hand at penalties. Wha'ts your problem ? His lack of command of the box and his awful kicking causes us very many defensive and possesional problems.

Ahhhh hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
ha.
Socrates wrote:Hmmmm. Zuric may have a point though. It's a conundrum with Given. The eyes tell you one thing but the number of goals per game conceded (both for us and the barcodes) and the poor form of previously good and subsequently good defenders tell you another! I find it very confusing and am not sure.

I am just not a Given fan either. I sit in the south stand so see him from close by. He didn't manage to keep clean sheets at Newcastle and he is not doing it for us either. He is a good shot stopper with very spectacular saves, but the best goalies don't need to dive around, they stand in the right place and just pluck the ball out of the air. 3 goals conceeded against the worst Sunderland side I have ever seen, show that we can only win if our attack score 4 times. His distribution is pathetic. Look at the League Hart has got Birmingham flying and Dunn is keep Villa above us. leading Our problems this season are the bloke in the goal not being a leader and the defence not having confidence in him
zuricity wrote:I see your point carl, but the goalie is part of the defence. I think he had time enough yesterday to try and punch the ball when they scored their first goal. Corrigan would have done that. Perhaps it's a modern goalie trait to be reactionary on the line. Personally I like to see a goalie take the ball and the player out , so the player is reminded that the shouldn't mess around in the City six yard box.

I´ve seen more than a few occasions this season when big Joe would have plucked crosses out of the air no probs - VDS never hesitates to come out although he is taller - maybe Shay has a bit of a complex over his perceived lack of height? Dunno - not slagging Given off but it is a bit of an issue imo

Exactly, the more the goalkeeper masters his area the more confidence a player has, knowing not to try and impede an attacker or foul an attacker even, because the goalie has that extra two to three feet height when jumping. The key to a good defender is to not allow the attacker the capability to jump to the ball, ie legally impede his access to the ball,(especially if the defender can get his head to the ball as well). However, it is of utmost importance for the goalie to dominate and most certainly the six yard box, if not the entire penalty area. Joe Hart is getting better at this, Schmeichel (father) was great at this. btw Nielson in the youngsters has no problem with this (well from what I've seen of him, not much I admit).
