As good as Nasri has been this season, I think his probable absence for this game is a blessing in disguise. Barca are the masters of pass and move football and they know how to nullify it, with their high pressing game.

Navas can give us a directness that I think they're more likely to struggle with and Negredo will eat their CB‘s up for breakfast. We're excellent at the nimble, possession oriented stuff but this ain't the time for it.

So Navas for the home leg and Milner for the away leg?

Absolutely anyone he wants - apart from Sergio Forwardo.

Watford turned Demichellis inside out, fuck knows what Barca could do to him. I really don't know which CB pairing will be best. If it wasn't for Nasti turning wank this last few months I'd have said him but........

I would be playing Nastasic alongside Vinny.

Demichellis is slow.

Really not sure if we should go 2 up top or one up top in the home leg though especially after what happened against Bayern.

I think we should play Aguero and Negredo. Not only are they scoring goals for fun but with their backgrounds in La Liga they will have a real personal motivation to do well against Barca.

If you think back to the Munich game we allowed them to compress the space on the pitch, and I think Barca will play a similar high line.
We struggled to combat it due to our inability to use the tight space we had to get through and behind them. Having Silva will make a massive difference on controlling the ball in a tight space and I think with Navas we will have the ability to get behind them. If we can do this we will score goals.

As to the CB situation then I'm really worried. Demi has the experience but no pace and Nastasic seems to have lost what he had, and I'm virtually sure he won't trust Lescott in this game. So, the prospect of Messi and Neymar, or Iniesta running at us is a scary one. So, you either have to rely on us out scoring them, and put your strongest attacking team out or you have to change strategy and play more defensively and pad the midfield. This strategy might even maybe put Demi into midfielder but then sacrifice one of Navas, Silva, Aguero or Negredo.

My solution would be to trust our attacking instincts and go with our strongest attacking team, to tell Aguero and Negredo to work their bollocks off when we haven't got the ball (which our forwards didn't do versus Bayern), to continually try to get behind them, and probably give the vote to Demi's experience over Nastasic's youth.

I don't understand the problems. Put Zabbs on Lionel. Tell him he's not to let him out if his sight. Lionel that is, not the ponce, er prince

Most important that Vinnie ,Joe don't go long.
I'd definitely start the beast and Jesus. Tgey are probably dying to have a go at Barca again.

Over at their place, similar to Bayern, hard grafters like James and Kola.

Now with Aguero, Nasri and Ferdy all out (as of now) for the Barca game ... how would we line up (and cope?) ...

Is any of the three likely to be back by then, and if yes, would it be wise to rush them or to put them straight back into the big one?

This is how I'd line em up:

Hart
Zaba - Komps - Demi - Kola
Yaya - Garcia
Navas - Silva - Milner
Negredo

Pellegrini pretty well said that Aguero and Fernandinho wouldn't be fit for the Barca game. No mention of Nasri but judging by Doug's comments he's in with an outside chance.

I think given our injuries this team is about right. Simple fact is though that Garcia and Dem are out of their depth at this level. I would put Milner in place of Garcia and play Jovetic on the left but the Count seems reluctant to play Milner in the middle.

Tempting as it is to make predictions now, I think we will have to revisit it when we see who had survived the intervening games and who is showing signs of recovering. The picture could be very different this time next week.

I have a feeling Aguero and/or Fernandhino will be 'surprisingly' included in the Barca squad ...

The whole demeanor of the gaffer in press conference is such that is giving it away, way too much emphasis on them NOT being available for a gem which is 4th game from now plus saying contradicting things like Aguero is already doing light running which Nasri isn't but Nasri who will start training next week will be available for Chelsea tie but Aguero won't, same for Ferdy, asked about the coming two games or the Chelsea games and he replies about Barca not possible ...

I won't be surprised at all if he pulls one of them out on the day to give a boost to the squad/fans at our end and also demoralise the opposition who might be sucked into thinking no Aguero or Ferdy against them ...

@RobDawsonMEN: Don't hold me to this but despite what Pellegrini says, wouldn't be entirely surprised if Aguero and/or Fernandinho were back v Barcelona.
