No he didn't get played wingback, he just got asked to do a job on the left side, similar to Messi's original role at Barca, (& role on the right now) rather than having a free role to do what he liked, as at City, & because he was a big headed lazy cunt, he sulked, did nothing, got dropped & they fucked him off to Derby County, where he was a lazy cunt for a while, then they got rid of him & now he is a big fat lazy cunt.

Had the chance to prove to the world what he could do, at Ajax, & opted to be a lazy cunt, exactly as he would if he was at City now. He wouldn't last 5 mins.

Dreadful shame.

I always wonder what Kinky would have been like in a top team surrounded by quality players.I saw him more as a frustrated player than a simply lazy one. There was really nobody else on the same wavelength. If he has Yaya,Silva,Nasri and Aguero to play with who knows.

Silva for me.

Would love to have him in our squad. Completely different player to Silva, so not a fair comparison but his ability to go past players is something few players have. Imagine him being fed balls by Silva and Yaya and with someone like Aguero with him who could actually read where he was going.

That said, I do take the point that he wasted the talent he had, so no guarantee he wouldn't have done the same in the current squad. But if we could have brought some professionalism to him (which was probably missing from all players then & not just City) what an asset he'd have been.

Ali as back up to Silva would be great, too.

Kinkladze's probably my favourite ever and probably the reason I chose City. He'd get nowhere near this squad though.

Vastly vastly overrated by many IMO. Understandable that in those days we latched onto and loved any bright lights but, although hugely talented in natural talent terms he shamefully wasted it and attitude and application was poor.

I would have rather had Bernarbia 3 years earlier than we did than Kinkladze in his prime.

Neither is a patch on David Silva though in real terms...(ie. not "potential" and "latent talent" but as an actual professional footballer for Manchester City).

Kinky had a bad attitude....if silva has such a good attitude why does he only perform 5/6 times a season? He's just as bone idle as Robinho and king and most other players. I can only think of 3 players in our squad that try their best every game and 1 of them can't even get a game, the other only plays because Richards is a walking/hobbling sick note and the last is probably the best striker in the world right now.

This is one of the worst posts I've ever read.

I'd pick Silva over Kinky for all the reasons said in this thread so far. I was only a kid when we had Kinkladze and it goes without saying I loved him.

For me Kinkladze was one of the most gifted players to ever play for City. He was however selfish whether that was down to the lack of quality around him and no one was good enough to read what he was about to do I don't know. He was the icing on a cake made from dog shit.

Silva though is more of a quality piece of cog in a well oiled machine. When he plays well, we invariably play well - see the cup match against Newcastle, managed to miss 60mins but the moment he came on the whole side sprung to life. He's unlikely to go on a slaloming run that bamboozles defenders before jinking it over the keeper, but he is going to create goal splitting passes and now and again appear on the scoresheet.

It is an interesting question, but honestly as much as I would walk over burning coals to see him play, I'd have Silva in the current City side any day. For all his ability I have no evidence that Kinky would have put in a shift and long gone are the days when that would have satisfied our ambitions.

Silva all day long. Though Shearer thinks Ramsey is far and away the best player in the league this season. Far and away he said. What a tosser. Silva is amazing this season, just fabulous to watch.

The gormless fuck doesn't even know that Silva plays for us, probably pondering on why we've killed off such a goal scoring talent that is David Villa. Its alright doing the nice fancy passing but he used to be a top top striker!

Oh and Kinky was classy in a poor team, lazy and unprofessional as evidenced by his demise, Silva is just class and the attitude to win

Silva is a real class act. Kinkladse sparked briefly every now and then. I am amazed that some say he hand more talent than Silva, that is laughable. Silva is miles better.....

Silva keeps going even when the opposition try to kick him out of it and his team mates don't read his passes. Of course it is easier when you have a World Cup winners medal I suppose! That said, it adds a weight of expectation which Silva does not seem to worry about. It would have been harder for Gio being the star in every team he played in, but I agree David is the top man.

It shows what a clueless tosser he is and always has been when talking about football. Anyone who has watched Silva (and Aguero and Yaya) two or three times this season would know who the (three) best player(s) in the league is/are.

Totally agree. Kinky was anonymous when the game was tough, and never got to be signed by a decent club. That wasn't just bad luck, he just wouldn't get near our side now.

Kinky was top, but never in a million yrs in the same bracket, In Spain they have Messi, Iniesta and Silva in that order.

Kinkladze possibly had more talent than Messi never mind Silva. Some of the stuff he pulled defied gravity. I saw him control a keeper's throw out at his shoulder with the side of his face, filicked down to his feet whilst running full speed, & when it hit his foot, he sidestepped a tackle & fucked off. The bloke was incredible.

We have seen evidence from Yaya's free kicks, how practice can work even for a top pro. Kinkladze with a bit of that attitude would be able to do pretty much anything humanly possible with a football; literally any skill that anyone has ever done, with both feet. He couldn't be arsed though.

Not fit to lace Silva's boots as a player, not even close, but he certainly could have been if he'd wanted it.
