Why so many draws ? where is that great leader ?

Postby eastlands-lostboy » Mon Dec 14, 2009 1:07 pm

I have not done any analysis on this at all but watching the games it always seem to be down to Leadership within the team. All teams that win things have 2-3 leaders who turn games around or ensure the momentum is always with their side. Who runs our team ? it is impossible to work out for me. Toure, Bellamy, Barry, De Yong .....all the wrong type for me. I want a bit of a bully boy who takes no shit from either the opposition or his own team mates, who turns in countless consitant performances and absolutly commands respect from the players, management and the club and fans. Dont tell me we could not get that player ! we have the resources, but where are they and who that is I do not know I'm lost for a name.

i am so glad we didn't get terry he has the demeanour of a loser. terry has spent his life watching how other great leaders act, and he mimicks them because he believes it makes him a great leader. he is over-rated and annoying.

Bellamy and Tevez fit the bill quite well on this imho. Or at least, their performances should earn them the respect you were talking about, also Bellamy doesn't take shit from anyone from what I can tell, not from the opposition for sure, nor the officials (and gets carded for that, too, which is not good as we saw on Saturday), and about his teammates, didn't he have a "friendly chat" with Robson during training last season, or was it only a rumour? As for Tevez, he leads by example, he never stops harassing the opposition, scores important goals, always makes himself available for the pass, thus taking responsibility even when things aren't going well, etc.

My personal opinion is we caught a lot of draws because we haven't killer instinct yet! Kolo is a fantastic captain for me, may be we need another manager. Hughes always shows he's too nervous to win anything with this squad!
From Torino, Italia to Manchester, Lancashire this City is always our City!

We have lost fewer games than all but four teams in the rest of Europe so if we have no leadership then we will be fucking immense when we do.

Sorry but absolutely not right. Bellamy has the brain to read the game but Tevez most certainly does not and could not communicate anyway. But both Bellamy and Tevez are way too busy running around like lunatics to be able to take an overall view of the game anyway so cannot be either of them.

We need to be winners not "not-losers!" How many teams in Europe have won more games than us?

"not-losers" is a good start, considering what we used to be. The old City could snatch defeat from the jaws of victory on any given day. This city has great resolve and will improve.

Arsenal equalised against us and we went on to beat them
we were losing against the rags, wigan, villa, burnley, liverpool and chelsea, yet we only lost one of those games. I would say its not a bad start to the long term project.

If you read what I quoted, nowhere in that passage it says he wants someone who can read the game or communicate, it says he wants a bully type who takes no shit from opposition (and Bellamy is definitely this), who turns in consistent performances (Bellamy does, and Tevez too lately), commands respect from the players, the management and the fans (Bellamy is surely respected by the management, and by the fans too due to his performances, Tevez is starting to, and I have no reason to think either of them is not respected by the other players) so they fit what I quoted. Now, if we want to talk about the ability to read the game and communicate, then I agree with you, although some times the best way to communicate is, like I said, to lead by example.

I thought this thread was about Chairman Mao. 'The Great Leader'.
