it was created by Slim and I reset the count by adding the 3rd sit on the fence option. Never even thought about putting it in the hughes thread. Its a very good call but If I merge the two topics, I have a strange feeling the poll will disappear. So I will let it be.

Good call mate, and as long as the Poll results are placed in the thread at various intervals, it gives a good insight of opinions change over the course of a season/certain period. These things interest me and possibly others, especially as our site as such a variety of posters from around the globe.

Hopefully Hughes and the boys can lead us to another win this saturday. I do still think Hughes is the man and he has shown it the last two games and the players have been fantastic.

No 83 - 44%

not sure, dont want to make a decision yet either way 33 - 18%

Good week for Mark, long may it continue!

Yes 72 36%

No 95 47%

not sure, dont want to make a decision yet either way 35 17%

In 5 days, although the percentages have changed, this seems to be totally (or essentially) due to more people voting, not people changing their votes.

Very true, and that shows that people are coming on the board and are prepared to vote. I wouldn't expect people to change their minds over the course of 2 weeks or for 2 wins, however what I would expect is some of those 72 to change their vote from Yes to Not Sure/Yet if we get a result against Bolton, and even more so if we do well against Spurs.

I think you will find that plenty of the fence sitters who were temporarily on the Hughes out side have jumped from one side to the other after those two wins - many have commented to that effect on this and other threads.

So you feel that a win against Arsenal and Chelsea wouldnt sway people's opinions, yet a win against Bolton would make everything alright?

Points wise, I would agree it makes things better, but the fact that we are having a defensive shocker again wouldnt come into it for most because people seem to only see the result rather than the underlying issues. I made my decision to wave him bye bye over the first 4 months of last season not based on results, but based on the shite I saw on the pitch over a prolonged period, and it will take something similar in terms of consistency of performance on the opposite direction before I even considered changing my mind.

I agree with you John. I think the wins agains Arsenal and Chelsea were self motivational and did not need much input from the manager. The true test of management is to get the team up for these bread and butter matches that will determine our season.

I've not previously voted in this poll at all, while sceptical of LMH's ability to step up I have remained hopeful that he might and mindful of the time pressures UEFA's agenda places on the club. I said before the Arse World Youth XI game that things were so poor that we needed to see something spectacular in that game and the Chelsea game for him to continue to receive my support. Well he came through in those 2 games. But has he the ability to sustain it? Cannot judge fully on yesterday's game as they had 15 men, if you count all 4 officials, but we need to see some wins in these type of games and we need to see it soon or a massive opportunity will go begging.

As for our performances, I disagree that we cannot unlock teams that park the team bus. We score plenty of goals against whoever. It's our inability to shut the average teams out that concerns me. There's enough there now to say he is probably our best hope of hitting 4th this season and change will hurt rather than help. But PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE sort the defence! And that may mean a difficult decision to add to the coaching staff and him risking outside infiltration of his Tafia-Sheep team! But FFS do what's required.

How is that?

Even if we had beaten Bolton yesterday , does this constitute a prolonged upturn in form? That would be two consecutive PL wins - hardly the basis for making decisions about keeping or sacking a manager.

We have some fucking idiots on here who change their opinion with the weather, almost as if they are incapable of independant thought and just go with the way the wind is blowing, without actually having any conviction to their opinion. If a win against Bolton had swayed the vote - 2 Premier League wins, does not erase the points already dropped because of the ongoing defensive shambles

How many times you changed your mind mate? You must be as fickle thing in a fickle shop ;-)

Just look for where your vote is out the 3, it'll be the one at the bottom!

However the simple fact is that if we beat Arsenal and Chelsea, and this poll is re-done on Monday the result will be completely different with a semi-final and a decent league position.

Which is why I voted 'wait and see' and also why the owners wont change anything in the near future.

Well well well.

This sort of poll now looks a bit foolish and ill-timed. Obviously everyone with a passion against Les will have voted, whereas most obviously cant be arsed with the same old dross.

The poll was set agaibst a backdrop of one defeat in all competitions. It now exists against a backdrop of a semi-final and a greatly deserved victory against the league's best side. City's best performance for a long time.

Some on here were recently even questioning whether Tevez was up to it.

Fuck me guys get a grip and park it for a while.

The poll was created when we were two months without a win, it was hardly foolish and ill-timed considering that before it was changed to a three choice version, it was 65% in favour of replacing him. And if you look at the season as a whole, with the exception of a couple of results, we haven't really lived up to our expectations. However in the first post I did say this wasn't a debate over anything and was just for people to vote, as we have hit 6 pages now I guess you and a few others are more interested in hearing their own trumpet than listening to others.

I think the 'no posting' is to deter expanding on reasons for voting, turning this into another slanging match. This hasn't happened yet, and the vast majority of the posts are a statistical analysis of the poll itself.
