Txiki intensive talks for Jovetic

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

Ted, when you've been watching him recently has it been national team matches or Fiorentina matches? Does perform differently (i.e. pure class for a national squad but less so for club)?

Also, wtf happened to Rossi? Didnt he move to Fiorentina?..

Mikhail Chigorin wrote:In the last thirty years, or so, City have had a depressingly large number of Managers - a veritable never ending conveyor belt, it would almost seem, so, at this point in time, there's nothing new in any City Manager receiving his P45.

However, what is new since the current owners took over, is that the profile and mandatory need for achievements has been greatly raised and, in this rarified and heightened atmosphere, the fine line between success and failure has been now even more acutely drawn.

On this basis, it's not unreasonable to look at the efforts and results of all the 'Management Team' in a more brutally objective and critical light. Furthermore, such an approach dispenses, to some extent, with the delicious luxury of allowing a goodly amount of time to elapse before someone is categorised as not succeeding/not 'shaping-up'.

If 'the Project' is floundering or deemed to be becalmed at some time in the future, Tricky and Sorry will have to bear culpability, just like anyone else, but perhaps even a little more so because of the roles they are performing.

At this point in time, the jury is still out, but some posters on this Forum are starting to become concerned - which they are perfectly entitled to be - that the portents are a trifle worrying. When they 'voice' such concerns they seem to attract a disproportionate degree of odium on their heads, simply for expressing a subjective opinion.

Not everyone on this Forum mindlessly follows the Gospel according to St.Ted, but, for heavens sake, everyone ought to sit down and just chill out. Tricky and Sorry may succeed beyond our wildest dreams, or they may fail ignominiously but, either way, we'll soon find out and if they do fail, they're not fireproof and their services will/should be dispensed with, just like anyone else.

However, to claim that Tricky and Sorry are only carrying out orders (of The Sheik) and are blameless with regard to recent events, brings to mind the analogy of the Nazi War criminals who tried to use this defence to escape total culpability for their actions. There is a collective responsibility for the changes which have recently been made at the Club and if City progress, there will be a collective need for praise, which will have been duly earned by all.

However, there are some posters who, quite reasonably, harbour some nascent concerns.

Which recent event needs somebody to be "blamed for"?

De Rossi is injured I think.

I've seen Jovetic a few times for Fiorentina & a few times for Montenegro, v England & some other fuckers I can't remember. Imo, he is too good for his team mates in both teams. I wouldn't say he's been constantly brilliant for 90 in any of the games I've seen (this season), but neither has Silva or Aguero or Yaya & they are in a much better team. You can still tell they are quality & that's Jovetic for me.

He just looks quality in midfield for either team & not so great at striker imo. But even at striker he does the occasional touch of genius. He also looks sharp up there to be fair to him, so with Silva feeding him ? Still prefer him deeper though.

I think a season in the Prem, with great players & a top manager, could make him. It's the Prem though, so you can never be sure.

Just to add; if he does play mid, he will still get into proper striking positions. We potentially have JoJo, Yaya, Fernandinho & Navas, plus Rodwell who will all run from deep. We used to have Yaya...

Nice insight Ted, much appreciated. I just look at his stats and work it from there.

I too seem to remember us being linked with him a few years back and then he disappeared off the radar. He is rated though and should fit our team very well. He might even give Dave a rest.

It's not impossible we could learn to play without Silva & Nasri if they needed resting or were out of form.

In fact it could be that we play better with Jovetic, Aguero ( or Dzeko), Navas in front of Yaya, Fernandinho Barry ( or Rodwell Milner).

We are going to take some stopping going forward.

Let's hope the Count can organise a defence at Prem level.

Lets stay on Jovetic for Jo-Jo's sake :P, apparently thats his nickname.

If we are signing Jovetic, I do not want us to sign Negrado. We already have Jovetic, Aguero, Dzeko & Guidetti.

Jovetic is midfielder striker or kind of Tevez player, but he should be consider a striker.

So we have 3 strikers and Guidetti now
1) Either send Guidetti on loan if he is not ready
2) If he is do not just sign Negrado

Dont fuck this lad up, give him opportunities with us or else where. I know there is Champions league, premier league, FA and Carling cup but skeptical about Guidetti's chances if we sign Negrado too.

What about the risks inherent in the fact that guidetti may be/is made out of glass??

He is a fighter, looking at the training sessions he's been doing all summer.

Shouldn't he be sent on loan if he is match fit, if he is not getting opportunities, we cant just make him train with EDS or first team. He needs some serious game time to improve, its been an year since he played. Send him on loan, if you think he is not good enough for city.

Not in the slightest.

I'm just saying, Edin & Aguero in the squad already and now we look to be bringing in Jovetic and Negredo. That doesnt sound that a club that wants to give him a shot. Who knows, maybe only 1 of those new players will come in or they both do and Pellegrini still gives Guidetti a shot. We dont know but 3 strikers and a striker/attacking mid ahead of him, not to mention his injury-plagued past, will be tough to overcome

I think Jovetic would be a good buy and would fit into aguero's style pf play. He is a decent player...Fast, good long shot...

I wonder how is his header?

I only hope he 'gets a shot ' if he's thought to be good enough. There's too many Ade Mike's and Stephen Jordan's in our past. To get a chance at a top club now you have to be bloody good. The situation is not the same as when we were shite and broke, not at all. We cant be a charity for aspiring footballers.

So if he's good enough, get him in, if not ship him out. Only the management team will know that - Samaras was brilliant in Holland.

It's still on over here. They have just introduced a new muppet to help kids that have a parent in prison. They haven't said who the new muppet's parent is but my money is on Elmo.

he's not in prison. Famous people that abuse kids sexually don't seem to go to prison ever for some reason. Have any priests, or celebs ended up in the slammer for their kiddy fiddling ways? I can't think of a major one, but there have to be some.
