We are being linked to Fred, not at all convinced. Him and Jo were awesome in Russia together but I still feel stung by Brazilians.

Ridiculous. It was entertaining and fun and filled with some watchable matches starring some world class players.

Does anyone give two fucks who won Confederation's Cup?
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

I think you have him mixed up with Vagner Love who played in Russia.Fred was with Lyon for 4 seasons and was pretty poor in France

Pretty poor? Guy was fucking trash! Some people might go and look some stats and say "he got into double figures few times" but this was for Lyon! Same as saying Samaras is pretty sweet because he scores for Celtic!

THIS is exactly why people shouldn't be watching fucking Confederation's Cup for scouting purposes.

Very enjoyable tournament.

I don't know why you're so angry about it being praised nqdp??

Has it something to do with sticking to your guns?

Praised? I haven't seen it praised much. Generally the public has been pretty indifferent about it.

Players deserve the rest and don't need these Blatter's money (bung) spinning operations every summer.

I've heard quite a lot of praise for it.

No worries.

Ronan i agree with Antti that the players need rest in the off season and there are way too many International Tournaments now.But overall it was a very enjoyable tournament with some really good games and it did get a lot of praise in certain quarters.

There where some good games in it but at the end of the day it was for nothing other than to test that Brazil could cope with the crowds - I suppose jury wil be out on that one.

I would have prefered to see games that mean something (not that winning in Brazil meant nowt to the Bazilian lads) however none of the games go towards any of the qualifiers for the world cup. And we'll still be thrown those during the season when its worse still.

The close season should be used for qualifiers, they could very easily organise several of them to be held in Brazil to test out thier infrastructure better than a small mini-cup would have done - then at least the players would have been playing and working in that heat for a reason.

I agree that it's a pointless tournament and that players need their rest at this time of year, the Spanish squad looks shot.

But to be fair it did serve up some cracking games.

Once again we saw the Barca trio of Xavi, Iniesta & Busquets utterly crushed by a team with a willingness to work hard. We also saw what a bag of shite the Spanish defence is when they are up against it. And these are the kind of 'clever' players people suggest we need rather than our defenders ? My arse.

Navas looks ideal for us, but notice how many passes went to Pedro on the left, even when Navas was in acres of space, until Piquet was sent off, then they gave Navas a few passes as it didn't matter anymore. Barca clique. Shocking.

Some of Iniesta's play tonight, taking on five players & running down blind alleys, was appalling.

Nice to see a Brazil side putting in the hard yards though, rather than watching wankers like Robinho standing around posing when they lose the ball. Fred has looked a miles better player than Torres all through this tournament; which is very amusing.

My thoughts exactly, it was that obvious I'm surprised even Lawrenson didn't pick it up (or maybe not). I bet Dave was pretty chuffed not to have been associated with that...

Made worse by the fact that the majority of the balls sprayed out to Pedro were either shocking and went to touch or too far ahead of him and he couldnt control them.

If you watched the final and heard the brasilian people and that stadium rocking their national anthem....amid the recent strife they had against the "best team ever"...and still didn't feel anything after they battered the spanish then I dunno what to tell you. These weren't a group of teams or players pining for a break. They gave a shit. Across basically the entire group of teams playing. I enjoyed the fuck out of it. It was fun.

Yeah it was a great tournament quality-wise, better than the World Cup will be I'm sure. No more money-spinning bullshit than every other single football tournament.

What's the point in anything etc.

Yeah, Brazil was only team that gave a shit mainly because they were playing in fucking Brazil. Rest of the world.... not so much.

And I watched the game and didn't feel shit. Pointless kickabout. I watched it mainly because I'm weird and watch all sorts of football but I don't know why anyone with half a brain cell would've wasted time watching it.

Now you seem angry that it was a relative success?

I wouldn't go that far. Most on here don't care enough for international football to project their own shortcomings on the Spanish national football team. I'd dub it getting sick of Spain winning everything in sight.

Also, beauty, eyes of the beholder etc.
