It's not deadly or horrific. But it's not the effort of champions IMHO.

I can agree, and I do in full, that we have been poor in the last 20 yards, but that does not deflect the fact that we dominated the Champions of Europe, on their ground, set up on a specular 4-2-3-1, with the likes of Mikels, Ramirez, Oscar, Mata, Hazard.... and for what's worth Fernando the shite Torres.
Joe Hart made one ordinary deflection over the bar in the whole game.... hardly a game where only our defenders did shine! as some pathetic morons [not You, I mean] are trying to portray...
Sporting challenges, as You know, are usually made of two opponents: given a balanced quality, if one fades, the other should have shone.... logically, at least.

what gets me about this is why the fuck isn't dzeko there? that should be his bread and butter. He's a fantastic header of the bal and he's fucking 4 inches taller than the defender. It chaffs my tits when I see dzeko pulling deep and then going out wide. I DON'T WANT YOU OUT WIDE DZEKO! BAD DZEKO!

One time i remember clearly from the broadcast, we had just given the ball away (no counter) and everyone pulled back and reset to their positions. Aguero was up pushing the defenders and dzeko was back in midfield with yaya.

Firstly, I don't want dzeko there because it means he is going to get touches on the ball in midfield and probably boot it straight to a chelsea player. Secondly, it takes away the option of an early angled cross, or any quick wing play because there will be no option in the center. Why can't dzeko just play like a center forward and aguero zip around him a bit? In my mind it is so much more effective.

...going forward yes. But defensively they were excellent. As were we. Both managers were happy with the stalemate, neither made formation nor attacking changes. It was all like for like and both defences had every answer.

I liked the Chelsea defender with the crazy name, he was impressive. As was Nasty stitch. He showed a lot.

Take a point. Keep that undefeated record intact. Move on to the next game.

Yaya, I thought he was soooo quiet. But the stats will show he wasn't. He played the def mid role very well along with GazBaz.

i'm of the belief that we should be able to get 3 pts anytime a team like the one Chelsea trotted out today plays the match they played.

This wasn't the defensive effort which Chelsea gave Barca or Bayern Munchkin...let's be honest. It was fine, but we've seen much better, haven't we?

Case in point -- we must have had half a dozen chances to put a ball in the back of the net, and a great defensive effort wouldn't have allowed for that would it? Also, they relied on the ref not seeing Luiz shirt-rape Kompany literally on every single corner. Plus, Aguero and Dzeko were fucking completely awol...i could probably go on a bit more.

start to do that math and add all that up and it didn't look to me like it was an amazing Chelsea defensive effort.

Chelsea, at home, played us and got a point. Says it all really.

Last season they were lucky to escape with all 3. This, they were lucky to get just the one.

Thanks very much. It was a brilliant prediction too, well done.

If you take the short term view, we've dropped 2 points and have slipped to second place.

The long term view is that we didn't lose, because we didn't gamble. Chelsea are still off the pace, and the rags are still leaking goals for fun and won't get lucky every week, as Norwich proved.

I am convinced that we are going to win this league by a considerable margin.

Real Madrid followed by Chelsea in the space of five days is no easy task. Thought we did ok but looked tired at times. If Aguero starts shooting he might bag some goals.

Would've taken a point before hand given new manager syndrome so no complaints, especially with a clean sheet. They never really looked like scoring thanks to our solid back unit.

Some of the players regularly accused of not putting in a shift stood up and were our best. I've gone into more detail on that here if anyone fancies having a read -

I'm happy with the draw, especially considering the circumstances before the game (new manager syndrome) and the quality of the players that Chelsea have in their ranks.

It's a long season and one more point gained towards our ultimate haul which, hopefully, will allow us to win the League by a tidy margin.

Given Rafa's undoubted skill at organising the defensive side of things and the Scum's weakness in this area, I could see Chelsea going to the Swamp and coming away with a 1-0 victory, which could suit us quite nicely, all things considered.

One particularly nice thing about yesterday was another clean sheet.

'But Mancini was more concerned about his misfiring strikers, and dismissed the suggestion that a draw away to the European champions might be a good result.

“I was not pleased with the draw at all,” he snapped.

“I am not happy because we played well and deserved to win. But in the last 20 metres we were too soft – we can’t be like that in that final third of the pitch.

“We were poor in missing the last pass, and making mistakes. If you go to Stamford Bridge and play like we did, and don’t win, you have lost two points.
“We are a strong team and Chelsea can play for the title this year because the season is long and they can recover the points they have lost.

“We dominated the first half, but we need to score when we do that. Our strikers kept missing chances, and when you are in the box and you are soft, you miss the last pass.

“I don’t know how many times we crossed and didn’t have any players in the box. This can’t happen.

“We have four good strikers, but I want them to work harder and to score when they have a chance – they are strikers, and this is what they are there for, not to defend.

“They have to defend as well, of course, but they need to put chances away. They are top strikers. Sometimes it can happen, especially when you play a team like Chelsea, but we lost two points.

“I am happy with the performance but not with what happened near their box. We are in second position, and we don’t like that.”

Oh stop whinging Mancini, we got a point at Chelsea & should all be fucking deighted, even though Utd won there, that's the standard we are setting ourselves .

"is finished," said Mancini after the loss. "we are too far behind United, we cannot win the title."

Hey, we should have won this game. I'm not disputing that. But we definitely shouldn't have lost it. Neither Mancini nor Benitez made changes to go for the win. They were both happy not to lose. If you're trying to suggest it was any other way you're being disingenuous.
