Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

Going from memory only here guys, so feel free to correct.
1981 we were on for 2 cup finals. In the FA Cup tragedy was to overcome us in the name of Ricky Villa. I was there to see Tommy H score at both ends, but luckily did not make the replay.
In the league cup we played Liverpool in the 2-leg semi. They were the Scum of the day, always getting dodgy decisions, especially at home. The first leg was at Maine Road and I was sat in the north stand, in the middle, just above the height of the goal net.
We had a decent side under John Bond, albeit scraped together on a shoestring from the wreckage of Mal's catastrophic second spell. The main moment in the match was a beautiful headed goal from Kevin Reeves right in front of me, which had us all leaping. The referee disallowed it . No one else saw a foul, no one knew why it had been disallowed. No one in the country. I have never met anyone who saw a reason to disallow it and we still dont know today.
Denied a winning goal the match was 0-0. Liverpool won the 2nd leg 1-0. End of adventure.
Time to right a wrong.

Yep. That was a typical reffing con job, of the kind which regularly happened v the rags' twin brothers. Lo and behold, Phil Dowd helps them through the semi by ridiculously denying Chelsea an early, nailed on pen, which would have totally changed the game.
No team has cheated & shafted us over the years more than Liverpool. I despise them.

Casting a quick eye on BM someone came up with a similar thread, but remembered the refs name.
ALF GREY - how could I forget? Right up there in our cheat's gallery with ALAN WILKIE (OT 1996 FA Cup, Cantona/Frontzeck mystery pen)

Remember it well John, Alf bloody Grey indeed. Was in the Mian Stand - H Block Right - as a 10 year old and I think it was the first time I saw my dad go so ballistic at a poor refereeing decision.
For that alone, we owe those bastards one to say the least.

They are partly responsible for one of my worst ever sporting weekends. In 1988 went to Burnden Park on the Saturday to watch my beloved Salford get hammered by the all conquering Wigan team in the Challenge cup semi final 34-4 (revenge was sweet though, we ended their 8 year unbeaten run in the same competition in one my best ever days at the Willows). On the Sunday I went to Maine Road to watch the scousers beat us 4-0 in the FA cup 6th round (the one where Jimmy Frizzell can be heard on camera telling somebody to grow up). The following weekend wasn't much better. Got dumped by my girlfriend of 2 1/2 years.
I'm lovin all these demons we're exorcising though. Scousers are next.
Balotelli......that's a brilliant finish.

I still have nightmares from being in the North Stand & seeing the small distant figure of George Courtney running toward me, finger pointing toward the penalty spot, to award their 2nd cheating diving shite penalty from the halfway line (no chance he could possibly see). This was after failing to send off Burrows at 0-0 for the most obvious, blatant, last man foul on Clive Allan. You could see that Burrows knew he was going off...... only to find that he wasn't.
Ian Rush punching an equaliser in with his fist in front of his big fucking cheating nose at Anfield anyone ? Gary Flitcroft's two perfectly good goals disallowed at Anfield ? The list goes on & on, over decades until finally we come to Suarez, Skrtel & Martin Atkinson.
Bastards.

The first leg was the first time I'd stood on the Kippax. No tickets needed then, just turn up and queue, was probably about £3 to get in.
I remember the police horses charging around on the Kippax car park before hand and nearly getting flattened by one of them.
I couldn't see much of the pitch through the crowd, but I did see Reeves head that goal in and with all the celebrations it was half time before me and most of the people around me knew it'd been disallowed. That decision was criminal.
We have to beat them this time.

There was a strong sense of disbelief at that game, as there was at the George 'two pens' Courtney one & several other past scouse muggings.

Yep I went to both those games and from my memory we battered both games. Had to queue for ages to get in.
Didnt Alf get hit with a pork pie from someone in the main stand, whoever it was commented that it wasnt even fresh. Made me laugh thinking one of the sheepskin brigade lobbing a pie. I got home and watched match of the day only for Jimmy hill to report on a different game than I saw, apparently Liverpool wanted it more than we did nothing changes with motd. We battered em at Anfield the kop were quiet all night well at least till the last 2 minutes til they were sure of going through. It was a great performance by us after seemingly often being tonked 4-0 by em at home.
I look back at the team and given the rubbish ive watched over the years it wasnt a bad side especialy when Bennett could be bothered and Tommy H was on fire. Gerry Gow kicking lumps out of the opposition and especially when Tueart came back. Enough im beginning to sound like an old git ...oops i am!

In the first leg the old man sat behind me had a heart attack not long after the disallowed goal. CPR in the aisles but sadly he passed away. I was only 10 but the visions still live with me, poor poor man.

The decision to disallow the Reaves header was the single most ludicrous refereeing decision I have ever seen.
Even more ludicrous than the Fontzek 'handball incident' at the swamp.

I can rarely remember a game the week after. Even momentous things like Wembley 99 I can remember only hugging my brothers and nicky weavers lap!
You lot amaze me!
