Beefy mate, to get to a point in your life where you think suicide is the only option must be the single most horrible thing you could possibly go through. As I said, thoughts go to his family.
Totally agree.

I agree mate, but the thoughts of those left behind not knowing why or who caused this problem far outweighs those who have passed. It's those left behind that are left with horrible thoughts of 'Why'?
And yes, my sincerest condolences and thoughts go out to his family, it's such a tragic loss.

I wonder how Bellamy will be affected by this and whether he will play today?
Will be one of the more poignant minute silences before the match today.
That's a very good point, I'd missed it in all the shock.

Well, hopefully he left a letter or some kind of note explaining why. It might at least soften the blow, albeit ever so slightly.

Agree. It's a selfish act if you have family.
I'm hoping it's not true.

So tragic and sad. Something must have happened for someone to do this so suddenly. If it was something like a long lingering depression, surely the guy would have been in a clinic or had some help. So out of the blue indicates that something has gone suddenly wrong for the man. So very very sad, selfish, but sad.

Please don't say that. Not being flippant here but I'd hate for Dalglish to be revving the boys up in the dressing room saying 'Do it for Craig, do it for Gary'. It's sounds so wrong on many counts.
I'm sure a minutes silence will be held perfectly.

I didn't know Gary Speed any better than I guess the average person on MCF does, but I certainly wouldn't feel like playing football today. In fact, his death has been the low point of my weekend and I'm feeling sad now. Definitely not in the mood for football. Posting in the match thread seems pointless.

There should be no 'if' about it. He has nothing to do with City or Liverpool. We didn't postpone any games when Mal or Neil Young or Mike Doyle passed away.

Was just about to post the same. There's no official connection to either club.

yes he was, bloody hell he must of known what he was going to do while on tv. RIP
I wouldn't be so sure. Deep depression can hit you out of the blue, changing your mood in minutes, especially if you are a chronic sufferer. I speak from experience.
To be in such a dark place that you have to end it all is so hard to understand for anyone who doesn't suffer from depression, but the thought of hanging yourself just makes me shudder even more; that seems an especially awful way to go.
It must also cause nightmares for anyone who had the misfortune to find him.....that is, if they ever manage to sleep again.
A tragic episode all round and your heart has to go out to his family. What emotions must they be going through ??

What the hell??? This is just bizarre. Like so many others, I always genuinely liked him as a player and he always seemed good character on interviews. Also, he had been doing quite well with Wales recently. Don't quite understand it. Must be some issues with family.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

I agree. If Swansea are playing there should be no doubt whatsoever about our game going ahead.

Was shocked, numb when I saw this on SSN - brings it all home when Given was in tears and reporters and pundits all had tears in thier eyes. Not been big on feeling loss when someone famous passes on but this has really hit, one of the most likeable footballers and new managers not to be connected to City. Today is a very very sad day.
RIP Gary, all my thoughts are with your family and children - wish there had been anouther way than this.
