Messi would NOT struggle in this league. Are you barking fucking mad lads??
I don't think we'll ever get him - certainly not before he has peaked anyway.
But if we did, I would absolutely cream myself. Best player of my lifetime and possibly ever.

I've got a funny feeling we are going to/have already signed Kaka for some reason

Saved me from posting the same...Best player EVER imo and some think he would struggle in this league.........madness....Messi could play on the fuckign moon and still maintain his form.
THEY SAY SWEARING IS DUE TO A LIMITED VOCABULARY. I KNOW THOUSANDS OF WORDS, BUT I STILL PREFER "FUCK OFF" TO "GO AWAY"

If Messi joined us after playing on the moon, he'd still not stuggle in the Prem ..... even if he still wore his heavy moonboots.

Silva is fucking brilliant in the Prem, as is Fabregas. Messi is twice as good as a footballer as Silva & Fabregas & also scores more goals than Tevez.

I dont think he would struggle, I think he'd be a good player, but not the player he is where he is. I cant see us getting the value out of him that we would have to pay to buy him.

I counter that with;
Stadium naming rights deal.
100% legit way round the problem.
Not a chance that will wash with UEFA. They're going to have a panel to decide what the "correct" amount of such a deal is worth and only allow that amount to be counted in revenue

The interesting thin is if we signed Messi for £200m, then "fair value" for the naming rights (Etihad) surely jumps up in line with that doesn't it?
We're dealing with the corrupt UEFA remember?

"correct" amount. pssh.
Trust me city will have no problem getting round these problems. The development of the site near city is a big part of this. Remember all revenue generated by businesses owned by the club within a certain distance count as revenue to the club.
Will UEFA the act to regulate how much the "correct amount" these said businesses can make as a revenue stream, and say sorry you are making too much?
Financial fair play, no problem to us at all.

No problem if we carry on signing at a lesser extent than we have been, which is something the club have already acknowledged, but as in my answer to the original question a big problem if you're talking about spending 200/400 million on a single player

I still think even at that level it is workable.
Sponsorship deals + Merchandise + all the crap that surrounds these players. You could just about justify it.

Hey, I hope you're right, I really do. I just think the days of beating the world transfer record could be a thing of the past

Forget your Kaká and Caicedo. Messi is the man if we want to 'arrive'.
The Qatar Foundation are giving them €170 for shirt sponsorship for 5 years, and they're not even a real brand.
