Is David May not actually a City fan and while playing at the Rags his fantasy teams name was "Man City"??

Good shout. When non-Mancs ask me, or say, that they've heard Manchester is mainly full of City fans, I concede, and say I think it's probably 50/50 at worst, from our point of view - which is testament to our fans, as they've done pretty well while we've done shit all for a long time.

Well said Michael I have had this row with rag mates many times, especially the younger ones who have seen nothing but success , I wonder I how many of them would still be following them if they went down the league like we did , they would'nt get the loyal support that we had in them dark days thats for sure.

There is an old cunt in our pub who is in his sixties that was born and brought up a blue, he changed teams when he was knocking on forty years old when the scum started winning trophies. What a fuckin waste of space he is. He tries to be this know-all about football and larges it up about the munichs but just gets told to shut the fuck up ''you fuckin scum traitor''
This was a close secret up until a couple of years ago when he was just known as this annoying, gobby scum fan that only came in my local when the scum was on the TV (as a scum fan he never actually goes to the games) but his mate let it slip that he used to be a die-hard, home and away blue up until circa 1992. We have give him absolute pelters ever since as soon as he walks in the pub.

He is a cunt however.
Yep i totally agree with that. Some people want to take intense rivalry out of football. The indignant fury of the Arsenal fans after Ade's knee slide last year was ludicrous, as was the Everton fans reporting Barton and Fowler to the police, as was the Liverpool fans reporting Ratboy Chuckle to the police.
Give shit, get shit back. Simple as that.
While I agree with both of you about banter and things like Tevez posters and their wind ups make the rivalry brilliant. Having said that, OP does have a point. It's almost guaranteed to kick off. 300 Norwegians and bunch of Irish day trippers getting their heads kicked in...... that will make nice headlines even if it doesn't turn into anything major.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?
