Ted A quick check reveals that Spurs and Man U have yet to travel to Anfield and Liverpool still have to travel to the Emirates. As far as I can see Chelsea must have played them twice already.
It sems to me that Liverpool have handled the Torres crisis well. Carroll apparently wants to go there and on paper should do well with Suarez. If they can get Adam on top which they presumably can ( at a higher price than would be the case without the Torres deal) then that's pretty good business. They still have other weaknesses to remedy though.
As for Newcastle no doubt Ashley will be slated but what is he supposed to do? £35 million is a fantastic price and Carroll's head has probably been turned. The key for Newcastle is not going down this season and then being allowed to spend the £35 million next season. The trouble is will they? Or will Mike trouser it?

These unequivocal messages about Torres from us really makes me think we've agreed with Chelsea not to go after him if they avoid one or two of our summer targets.
Would be great if that was the case, unfortunately I don't think Abramovich wants to do any agreements like that. I think it is simply us being happy with the strikers we have and think that 50m is FAR too much for someone who has not performed in a while and has been injured chronically for some time:-)
Still think we are one top striker short (considering Balotelli is more a wide player in our formation), pref. someone who is like Balo that can play wide in a 433. Aguero comes into mind but he seems to be content with staying at AM... Maybe Messi?:P
We're not in for Torres because the transfer fee is double what he's worth. It's fucking ridiculous for an injury prone player & THE biggest gamble ever in the history of football. We would be fucking mental & desperate to pay that for Torres at this time. If he was 23 & fit then fair enough. He'll be 27 by next season.

I watched the City match yesterday and after 4 minutes of turning it on Dzeko's price tag had been mentioned at least three times.
It's funny because when Bent made his debut against us the other week it wasn't mentioned once.
Yes it was - 'the £18m man scores in the 18th minute'

If we hadnt come to an understanding with Chelsea it would make sense for us to muddy the waters a bit though, if for nothing other than to push his price up or delay the deal. Saying to the world exactly where we stand on him means his price doesn't carry that City premium. It really sounds to me (reading between the lines) like there's been some backroom phonecalls.

Dzeko looks a bit of a fucking bargain now doesn't he? I bet they'll still go on about his price though.

Suarez has been given the number 9 shirt, I would hope the deal has been done, otherwise he'll look out of place wearing it in the stands on Wednesday.

Bit dissapointed about MJ not going out on loan until the end of the season.
Would you still be dissapointed if he plays a few games for us this season?:-) I'd prefer that over a loan move to be honest, easier for us to make sure he is not injured again by having him here and not in some cold randomtown.
I'd definitely still be dissapointed. 10 minutes here and there is nothing compared to 90 minutes every week.

It certainly does sound like it to you, you've mentioned it about 5 times ;-)
I suppose there could be substance in what you say re Chelsea and City, but I just don't think we're interested in Torres. Mancini seems to detest anyone with a lack of fight in them when the chips are down and judging by Torres' disgraceful "contribution" when Liverpool needed him most (excluding putting himself in the shop window in the last two or three weeks), I wouldn't call him a Mancini type of player.
Tevez v Torres?
No fucking contest.

It said earlier on SSN that he will wear the number 7 shirt? Presuming the deal is official.
No mate, they're just giving him a free shirt.

I was talking about his price tag, £24m. The press seem to have reduced it for some reason to £18m? Why don't they quote the £4m we paid for Jo or the real price we paid for RSC or Bellamy? And they mentioned £18m once? As I stated previously, within the first four minutes of watching the match yesterday Dzeko was refered to as "27 million Dzeko".

I actually think Messi could do a job for us until Johnson gets back.
Loan deal maybe? Tin hat on, but hand on heart, that's how I feel.

I've seen that lad Messi, he's definately got something. Mind you, he may struggle to get in ahead of Jo in Cup matches ... ahem.
