I'm getting concerned about the chaff at our club..seems we can only get rid of them on loan
Is it gonna be the case that players who don't make it at the club will be running down their contracts ala Danny Mills because noone will take them permanently due to their astronomical wages?

Some of them will have to accept less wages then wont they, that's if they are really leaving to get regular footy.

At least the club is making a stand by making the other club pay the wages in full. Each year their transfer fee lessens making them more affordable, so if we can make a few less transfer mistakes from now on, we should reach a status quo soon.

At least those players out on loan are in the shop window and if the clubs to whom they are being farmed out don't eventually want to purchase them, some other buyers may well have been alerted.
By not actually selling until after the end of this season, we will also benefit by the income eventually received for them being allocated to the first of the Club's financial year's accounts coming under scrutiny re the FFP regulations.
On that basis, I don't feel loaning them out is a bad thing for City.

I am curious if one of the main reasons they are being loaned rather than sold is not that the club is not willing to take substantial losses on the initial purchase prices of these players. I don't have any evidence either way, but it certainly seems a possibility, given how little time many of them see and the deflationary effect that must have on their transfer value. In that scenario, it might be better to suffer the loss and have a quality player on the books than bring them only a few million quid closer to acceptability. For that price, we could simply add on another UAE-affiliated sponsor.

if a player costs £10m and is on a 5 year contract, he costs us £2m a season in amortisation (sp?). Therefore at 2 years, we need to sell for £6m to break even. After 3 years, we only need £4m. If we were to get £5m for same player, we'd actually make an accounting profit. Getting rid of these players at the right time for the right price is therefore important

Say Bridge, SWP and Santa Cruz are all on an average of 80k a week, no one in their right mind is going to pay a transfer fee of say £5m each plus 80k a week.
So it's either sell them dirt cheap below their value or loan them out thus releasing a good £6m from the wagebill from now til June.
Then when June comes their value will shoot up abit as they will have performed well for their loan clubs, they are good players after all, they will also want to go as they have spent 5 months playing regular football and won't want to go back to here where they are not wanted meaning they will take a pay cut which allows the club to pay a decent transfer fee to us.
Not only that but once these FFP rules start in June 2011, the sales from these players will go to cutting our loses instead of getting lost in previous accounts before they set in.
So overall in June 2011 we will have saved £6m in wages for the 3 players and brought in a combined transfer fee of £20m which will go towards our aim of meeting the FFP.
Which means

I don't know how you feel about Bridge, but I view us taking him off Chelsea hands
as a favor. Just a thought??

Does he have a chance back with us? I'd like to think so. Just seen his goals. First one was good, second one was a cross that nobody touched ending up in the net. Looks like he is doing well there though.

How much more can he develop?? This summer Mancini will probably give him a good look.
