What Was The Attendance For The Derby??

Postby King Kev » Fri Nov 12, 2010 5:24 pm

I want to update our Fixture List but can't find out what the crowd was on Wednesday night.

The OS says 47228 [urlnp=http://www.mcfc.co.uk/News/Match-reports/2010/November/City-v-United]LINK[/urlnp]

The BBC says 47210 [urlnp=http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_prem/9163093.stm]LINK[/urlnp]

The Premier League says 47679 (which I think would be a record?) [urlnp=http://www.premierleague.com/page/MatchReports/0,,12306~51790,00.html]LINK[/urlnp]

How the hell can 3 different sites show 3 different attendance figures for the same match, and which one is most likely to be accurate?

Maybe one figure is using tickets issued, and one is using bodies through the 'turnstiles'? Just speculating.

(47228 + 47210 + 47679) / 3 = 47372

edit: toddlers and small children make up for the 0.332

The SKYTEXT summary the next day gave the 47,679 figure. But as the OS said 47,228, it seems every other source - like KK - held off to get the right figure.

47,679 would indeed be a record, but I just cant see us suddenly getting an extra 200+ in with the segregation etc for this match, over our previous bests.

Mind you the OS thought the Poznan game kicked off at 7pm, so.........................

We can't have had record coz the rags entitlement was reduced coz of persistant standing.

Plus, about 30% of the boxes were empty, a good 20/30% of the directors box (sad that they couldnt even give away the tix) plus there were a lot of empty single seats all over the stadium.

I would be very very surprised if the number of people actually in the stadium was anywhere near 47000 - and whilst it might have been reported as such, it was very very far from an attendance record
