This was the subject of a debate on talksport the other evening and again, City got slated.
Somebody should point out that it was not City's choice to have playing squad restricted to 25 players. By doing so, the League caused quite a number of players to lose their jobs and their means of earning a living.
Any player who is not chosen in his club's 25 man squad has the right to seek employment, with the club of his choice.
The contracts that such players are on, have to be honoured and wages paid.
Despite any unfairness which may result in this, the fault lies with those who made up this rule. Whether Doncaster like it or not, neither City nor Bellamy have much choice but to pursue a policy agreeable to the club and player.
The loan system has operated for many years and nobody has ever complained in the past about any unfair advantage of any other Prem player being loaned out. All the top clubs have loaned out players in the past, giving the recipient club some advantage or other. It has only become an issue since City loaned Bellamy.
City cannot be blamed for ruining Doncaster, It has been ruined for many years.
