Yeah, but what about Lahm, he's only 26 ;-)

we'd have an amazing pair of attacking full backs if we sign maicon
I am up for it

Even though I think we've lodged interest in Maicon, I don't think we'll get him. It looks like his agent is using us as leverage to get the best deal for his player and himself. Similarly, we are now linked with Gourcuff again to force Villa's hand.

i know...i wouldn't care if the guy was 39, let alone 29, after the season he just had at Inter plus his displays at the WC. Plus he's a vocal leader with some charisma. We need more of that. FFS Kompany seems like General Patton compared to most of our team. We need some more players with some fire and some steel who aren't afraid to get our their sword and cut a few heads off...and no amount of NDJs karate kicks make him a leader, but i still love him.
cheers

Just heard on good authority that Bartolli has dipped out of the Canadian leg of Inter's tour and that the some of the Italian press are saying that it is virtually a done deal. Here's hoping at long last we may have got our man!

I bet the inter squad are gutted, maybe mario has taken a liking to miss jen bartolli and asked her to help with negotiations. Things surely would go smoother with her around.

The next several hours are set to be decisive in relation to Mario Balotelli's and Maicon's futures as Inter, Manchester City and Real Madrid fire up more talks.
La Gazzetta dello Sport claims the crucial phase of both prospective transfers has kicked off and the idea for all involved in the deal is to reach a comprehensive agreement and close deals, but the clubs are at odds over fees as negotiations reach breaking point.
City, Inter and Mario Balotelli's agent are expected to meet again in Milan to realign a deal. It seems all parties were unyielding over the transfer fee during Monday's meeting. So far, City are reportedly offering £21.5 million, whereas Inter insist on £25m.
But on Tuesday Massimo Moratti indicated that his club have many other important players, suggesting he is resigned to losing Balotelli. All that remains for this deal to be concluded is the nod and wink from Inter director Marco Branca once he resolves the fees issue - the heart of the problems thus far.
For Maicon meanwhile, AS reports his agent Antonio Caliendo is still in Spain, but failed to specify whether his journey there was in relation to talks with Real Madrid.
