I'd say that could be quite accurate. Good thinking Blue2 - however Milner's potential arrival for an inflated fee doesnt exactly fill me with joy either.

You say that but was our last offer? If MON now has a pissed off peep wanting to leave then that plays back into our hands.

Come on people.

Why the lack of love for Milner. He's not as bad as people are making out. 20-25 Million is fair value for him imo.

This.

I dont hate Milner, and if he does arrive he will have my full backing just as any player does who wears our shirt. That said he's vastly over-priced at £20m, end of.

take a gander at Jinky tho...for some balance. Carl Lewis prollee doesn't give most young, Englishman (or chicken-hoarding Irishmen apparently) a semi wet-tip when it comes to athletic achievement. It's a story from someone else's bygone era, and i bet his speech was a snoozer (watch the vid on the OS, YAWN!). They'd have been better off having Marion Jones or Floyd Landis talk about cheating, and the epic fail each of them created in their search for glory as contrast instead of the typical bullshit.

just sayin

cheers

From Sky Sports, seems Dzeko is off the radar?
Wolfsburg insist key duo Edin Dzeko and Zvjezdan Misimovic will remain at the club next season.

Highly-rated striker Dzeko has been linked with a host of clubs, including Manchester City, Juventus and AC Milan following his goalscoring exploits with Wolfsburg.

Misimovic has been linked with several other Bundesliga clubs in recent weeks, but Wolfsburg managing director Dieter Hoeness is adamant the pair are going nowhere.

"We have decided to end the recurring speculation: both Edin Dzeko and Zvjezdan Misimovic will be staying at Wolfsburg, no matter what offers come in for them," said Hoeness.

Hoeness made the announcement after a meeting with coach Steve McClaren and club chairman Dr Francisco Javier Garcia Sanz.

"We did not want this speculation to become endless as we move closer to the start of the season," added Hoeness.

"It made no sense to continue going around in circles. Now everybody can concentrate on the new season.

"Furthermore, both players have clear contracts which don't leave any room for misinterpretation.

"There was not a single offer for either of them anyway so this discussion was only virtual."

Both have recently expressed a desire to leave the club with Dzeko reiterating his dream of playing for Milan one day, despite signing a new contract with the Bundesliga club to end speculation linking him with a move to the Rossoneri 12 months ago.

And Misimovic had started to express his disillusionment with life at the 2009 Bundesliga champions.

However, Hoeness does not expect any negative repercussions from the club's firm stance.

"I am convinced that our decision will have no effect on the performance of Edin and 'Zwetschge'," noted Hoeness

"They are two excellent footballers and decent lads. Both are working very well in training."
In the words of my Old Man, "Life will never be the same without Man City, so get it in while you can".

Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini has welcomed the news Aston Villa are prepared to sell James Milner.

England ace Milner has been one of City's top targets this summer and Villa have already rejected a £20million bid for the midfielder.

Villa were keen to keep hold of Milner, but Martin O'Neill revealed earlier on Thursday the club were willing to sell the former Leeds man for the right price after he indicated he wanted to leave Villa Park.

Mancini, who is away in America with City on their pre-season tour, is a big admirer of Milner and is hopeful of striking a deal for the 24-year-old.

"Milner is a good player, but today he is an Aston Villa player," Mancini told Sky Sports News.

"If we have this chance [to sign Milner] I think we can take him, but we must wait now."

City goalkeeper Shay Given, a former team-mate of Milner's at Newcastle, believes the midfielder is a quality player.

"I worked with James at Newcastle and he is a very, very good player, but we have got some great players already," said Given.
Terrific player
Patrick Vieira has also welcomed City's pursuit of Milner despite the fact his arrival would only add to the competition for a place in Mancini's midfield.

"He [Milner] is a terrific player," said Vieira. "Of course it is not my place to say if he has to come or not but when you look at players we have around it will be good.

"The attraction of City is that the future is fantastic. We have a really competitive team and I think every single player will want to play for City because the future is bright for City."[strike][/strike]

I think they'll be more to come if we sign those 3 before the season starts.

We always have a special one on the 31st August at 11:59pm!

Yep - big rumours of the big show-stopper, from ITKs with contacts (rightly or wrongly) inside. Could happen anytime and the owners are always on the look-out for this fella! Everyone knows we failed with Kaká and Eto'o, but we've surely gone for a dozen more where the club in question kept their mouth shut.

I reckon they are still looking for Torres. I know there's this mythical Champions League nonsense but there's no way on this earth Chelsea will wish to match City's dosh for player or club (or agent!). All these negotiations between Torres and Purslow are probably getting him a huge pay rise, after which he'll pledge his undying loyalty to Liverpool.

Remains to be seen whether Mancini rates Ibrahimovic enough to go for him if Torres fails (very expensive but Barca need to unload), or whether we'll leave it for now.

Latest on Balotelli from Tuttomercado:

The Manchester City is ready to introduce itself with a check from 35 million for Balotelli and Moratti could yield. The confirmation arrives from the world of the bookmaker d' oltremanica, since in the bet on the transfer dell' forward the quota is come down radically: the played one now is offered to 1,05. , Transaction practically concluded.

Sounds good to me, let's hope he's the first of 2 or 3 more signings next week. Balotelli, Milner and Kolarov would make for a damn good week
